... unless you want to become obsessed with Adam Brodie.

PSA.

He has aged well I loved him in the OC and later found him again in reruns of Gilmore Girls while I was on maternity leave. It's great seeing him in a high profile show again!

He is gorgeous. But I can’t imagine what he sees in her! (Apart from the obvious…)

But it worries me that the Jewish women are mostly such stereotypes.

Prancine · 23/10/2024 21:50

That's true about the stereotypes. I think it extends to most of the Jewish characters - but yes mainly the women.

I’m menopausal and it still had the same effect

I read a really good article online about that! So you’re not the only one to worry that.

I've never heard of it, but I thought it was called "Nobody Wants This While You're Ovulating" from the thread title 😂

Yeah, the Jewish clichés were out in force, it felt rather old fashioned because of that. And I am clearly getting old because I didn't like the ending.

Adam Brodie's character is very attractive though.

He is gorgeous in it and it's his personality as well as his looks - he is (boringly) perfect.

I wanted to love it, I really did. But I thought it was so unoriginal and lazy. Firstly - the women spend their whole time talking about men (bechdel test fail), yes the podcast is about sex and relationships so that's pretty unavoidable, but ugh. Joanne seems perfectly happy to ditch her work and - apparently, her personality - for Noah. The portrayal of Jewish women is really one dimensional and negative (already covered in reviews and mentioned in previous posts). The storyline when she goes to the camp with him and tries to befriend/impress the teenagers - a. Unbelievable and b. Cringe.

I found the Marvellous Mrs Maisel much, much funnier, more complex and interesting - and a better portrayal of Jewish characters. (Not saying it's more realistic just that it's more positive and enjoyable to watch.)

Ditto on all counts.
