Just watched this. Fascinating documentary about about a woman being catfished for years. What got be was the perpetrator was an ordinary person, not a scammer or IT specialist, but an ordinary twenty-something person, and that she manage to dupe the main person for so long and so successfully.

Haha - Coolmum, have you ever been seen in the same room as Kirat's cousin? 🤣

Not sure what you mean by that but no I am going by all the interviews in the public domain actually.

It's just very convenient that all these anonymous people are missing the rather obvious point that Kirat couldn't have been cat fished if her psycho cousin hadn't spent 10 YEARS of her life fucking her around. There is amazingly little interest in what kind of person does something that evil to a family member, no matter how naive that family member is.

Maybe psychopaths are more common than I realised.

Wow just watched this. This is crazy. The poor victim. Why did the perpetrator do it to her?! It's as if she hated her and wanted to ruin her life. Why?!

It reminds me of the story of the NfL player Manti Te'o whose career was completely ruined by a similarly elaborate catfishing, but at least in his case it made more sense as the person had a crush on him and then tried to shut the whole thing down. There's also a Neflix documentary about it. It completely ruined him.

I'm totally shocked that a family member could do something so evil for seemingly no reason at all.

Wow I have just read that the perpetrator was VP at a very well-known bank - promoted at a very young age as well. A super high achiever. I just can't understand this. Why? And how did she have the time to do this?!

I don’t know. She seems to have devoted a huge amount of time to this over an entire decade. Truly baffling.

So bizarre. The hoax was so elaborate and went on for so long - it's as if she hated Kirat and wanted to deliberately ruin her life.
