She is definitely more tuned into the children than Jimmy Is ....and in fact even to Arthur ...she was really good with him .

Definitely. This is actually one of the things I love about Nicola. Carl and Elliot aren't even her biological kids. She was put in an not ideal situation when they were dumped on her and Jimmy but she loves them both unconditionally and scenes with her and the kids are lovely.
