I was pleasantly surprised when I read it was yet another property developer. The pairing of the football TikTok star and the footballing girls was nice. Interesting to see she needed to invest to make money long term - seemed genuine unlike last weeks.

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/10/2024 20:49

It's always property 😂

@EducatingArti thanks for reply. I can't quote a quote

I get fibro and other medicinal issues are all diff

But I couldn't see why she couldn't do a few more hours a day or an extra day as worked part time but was struggling with money so much

The thing is that fibro causes exhaustion and you have to pace yourself very carefully. So it may well be that if she pushed herself by doing more hours, she would have a flare up and be so exhausted she wouldn't be able to work the limited amount she does now.

I took early retirement ( self employed so not got early retirement on health grounds from a pension scheme) from work just over a year ago as I was hanging on by my fingertips. It has taken me most of a year to gain any kind of equilibrium and I still struggle. I can push myself but then I need a few days recovery. I can't repeatedly push myself without completely crashing.

E3 tonight

Two famillies in West Yorkshire at opposite ends

Both believe money doesn't buy happiness but will they feel the same after the swap

I agree with that but it gives you choices and security

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/11/2024 22:21

Watching behind due to everything being on at 9pm

Nice sofas and not property for once

How did poor family get theirselves into so much debt 🥲

11k loan and over £1000 owed on electricity

Rich man think pete didn't get budgeting with bottle of red wine. Very costly olive oil and only eggs to eat 😂

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 05/11/2024 10:29

Did no one watch it ?

OP posts:
ChesterDrawz · 05/11/2024 12:43

I watched it. I thought it was much better and more worthwhile than most of them have been.

What I did like was the admirable 'sustainable furniture business' which refurbished and recycled old sofas.

I mean, they actually made all their money when they binned off the idea of recycling stuff and started getting new stuff made to look like it's old instead, but still... 😂

MulberryPeony · 05/11/2024 13:05

I’m not entirely sure what the rich people got out of it? Just optics for their business? Do they really shift 200 sofas a week/month (whatever it was)? I’d never heard of them. I know the poor people are directed what to buy but I’d have bought some curtains and lampshade for my bedroom instead of spunking £600 on designer clothes that looks just like his regular clothes.

Hydrangea58 · 05/11/2024 13:09

I watched one episode of Rich House Poor House, only to discover that the 'poor house ' was in a street very close to where I grew up (oh, the shame!!!!)

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/11/2024 15:28

I've had a poor house near me

Not sure really

Esp if tech costs them £2k of their weekly money unless the show pays for it

OP posts:
MulberryPeony · 07/11/2024 07:33

I’d imagine the show pays which is why it is capped at 2k?

As to why the poor get themselves into heavy debt they generally get worse rates so a loan for a car could easily end up being double what they originally took out and it can become unmanageable very quickly. Especially on zero hour contracts or jobs that only pay SSP. That said, it is often very easy for anyone to take on debt and get in a tight spot that you realistically just can’t get back out of.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/11/2024 09:20

But often they are part time or have another child /young baby

Don't have kids if can't afford them as in can't afford to pay electricity bill qns in to 1000 debt

Just watched episode 3

I really liked the settees they gave them

purpleme12 · 18/11/2024 23:56

I'm confused... It said at the beginning she was bringing her dad and her dad was going to look after the children... And yet there was no sign of the children whatsoever!....

purpleme12 · 19/11/2024 00:01

At no point in the programme has it explained why the 'poor' mum doesn't work...

purpleme12 · 19/11/2024 00:08

The 'cafe' business won't amount to anything. Not until she's serious about it.
And I don't think she is.

I think the RHPH narrator meant the children's father was going to look after them.

purpleme12 · 19/11/2024 15:32

Oh ok

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/11/2024 18:39

Yes the kids dad was having them

Prob the only break mum would get without her kids

Wish they did like for like swaps

Poor kids v rich kids

Tho maybe for some poor kids to have a wonderful week worh lots of money is too much

But I think it's good for Rich kids to have to share a bedroom for 5 days

Wetherspoons · 20/11/2024 12:24

I enjoy the show nonetheless but from reading other (non-mumsnet) threads about the show, it has occurred to me that there is kind of a wealth porn/poverty porn angle to RHPH tbqh.

purpleme12 · 20/11/2024 15:10

I'm not really sure what you mean by wealth/poverty porn in this instance?
