Keep Dancing!

Will link the Spoiler and Video Thread in posts below, not as clever as Polka for embedding links!

What I don’t understand is how the hand and the high five are part of the same joke? Seems like two separate incidents to me. If my memory is correct, the high five ‘joke’ happened before the hand ‘joke’.

My impression is the Katya can’t stand him and is taking one for the team with all this joke nonsense.

edited to add, I can believe his hand innocently went round her waist more that she was comfortable with and she moved it, but the look she gave him after the high five was real, in my opinion.

Edited

I think that’s where I am with this. I’ve been reading the comments on here and wavering between “he’s a menace” and “nonissue, there’d be no fuss if he were 25 and slim” but I think the truth lies in between tbh.

Samcro · 14/10/2024 11:05

i wonder what dance they have next week. I imagine it will be awkward.

xxSideshowAuntSallyxx · 14/10/2024 11:13

Honestly if she didn't want his hand on her, she would have moved it completely not just to the side, if someone I can't stand put their hand on me I'd move it completely not let them stand there holding me. Even for 'show'.

this is a non story made worse by Twitter and the media, who trawl twitter for their stories these days. I bet all those journalists who spent 3 years at university to go through tweets to make up news feel it was so worthwhile.

ellebelli · 14/10/2024 11:34

I don't like being touched in certain places even by my partner so I see her moving his hand a non issue really, she didn't like where he put it and simply moved it back...its not even like it went somewhere it shouldn't.
The refusal of the high fives was a bit odd! He looked so happy and then she completely blanked him and gave him a right dirty look.
The costumes do annoy me, they make them look silly and it does distract from the dancing.
Can't they just wear what is traditional for the dance(within reason and what they are comfortable in) hate when they shoehorn a theme in that makes no sense to the song nor dance(bowling alley??why??)
I don't mind halloween week and the themes and costumes but that's about it, leave it at that.(though personally I do wish they would keep it "dark" and moody rather than silly(witch bloody doctor etc)
Hate movie and musical weeks because what should and could be a good dance is ruined by daft costumes and songs.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 14/10/2024 11:37

Thank you for the new thread!

I've caught up now. Some horrible costumes this week.

I agree that it's getting more and more stylised and further away from proper ballroom and Latin which is a shame. I really enjoyed the Come Dancing afterwards, I wish they'd show more of those again.

Re Wynne and Katya, I noticed her move his hand, but I thought she just didn't want him holding her as tightly. Saying it was a joke seems strange. I'd have thought they'd have said she was too warm, or his braces were digging in her or she was uncomfy because she was standing awkwardly and wanted to move a bit or something (which all seem more likely than him trying to feel her up to me!).

I also vaguely wondered whether it was because she'd taken her shoes off (no bare knees this week, but Katya's bare feet!), so they were different relative heights and she felt a bit constricted.

ilovesooty · 14/10/2024 11:40

Samcro · 14/10/2024 09:34

i find it all annoying. yes his hand was in the wrong place. she moved it.
doesn't make him a letch, just a taller than her person.
I do hope this doesn't become another kissgate.

I agree. He seems to be a nice guy and if he says he is heartbroken about what's been written I'm inclined to believe him.

marshmallowmix · 14/10/2024 12:04

i think it has been made a lot bigger than it needed to be...lot of the couples are very, very touchy feely and all over each other...if he was much younger etc doubt there would be so much hoo haa....

Whatever happened re his hand and her pushing it backwards was seen clearly it looked odd/off for her to do that then claim later it was a joke...then the high five and Katya's face was like thunder..her look and reaction say different than what she is posting now was a joke...

Think it's a mix of things...if I was Wynne I would leave now than risk any other misunderstanding or whatever is going on...

marshmallowmix · 14/10/2024 12:08

I think he seems like a nice guy so if I was him I would just remove myself now from the situation...her insta post has just made it worse as it makes no sense...least said quicker mended would have been my motto! Think it will be incredibly difficult to be comfortable now in a partnership...plus all the furore that has gone on...

MarkWithaC · 14/10/2024 12:40

I haven't seen any images of Wynne and Katya so can't comment. I hope all is well in their camp though because they're great dancing together.
Loved their tango. someone nailed it on the last thread: when Katya does a song like that it's like watching a mini theatre production. She's a genius.
Liked Pete and Jowita, Chris and Dianne, Montell and Johannes (SO beautiful), Sam and Nikita (loved seeing her loosen up), Paul and Karen – amazing to see him actually having a go at proper dancing. That was it really. Amy and JB are dull (sorry Amy). Nick was bound to go. Shayne looked terrible in his costume and didn't dance well IMO; massively overmarked.
Sarah was OK but a bit twee.
Punam got a tough song. She was a bit undermarked compared to others, I thought, although I know she made mistakes. Viewers clearly like her though.
Tasha is just boring. Yes, she's good, because she's a pro dancer!
Jamie was WAY overpraised; I thought his dancing was quite poor. Why do the judges love him so much?

Is that everyone?

I hope Punam comes back with a bang next week.

Pumpkincozynights · 14/10/2024 13:02

I’d be happy for Jamie to leave, I just can’t take to him. Same for Shane and Pete. Also Paul, he has improved but his terrible bow legs look dreadful.
My favourite male is Chris by a Mile.
I really would like a woman to win as I think they have a tougher time in general.
Favourites at the moment are Montel and Sarah.
Favourite pro dancers are: Nikita, Gorka, Karen & Katya. I always liked Alijash but he is slipping down my list!

HRTQueen · 14/10/2024 13:46

This could have all blown over or would much quicker if it was just said I cuddled her too closely and slightly over stepped the mark and apologised

this ridiculous story of an inside joke just drags it out

if he wasn't such a nice bloke or appeared to be a bit arrogant he would no doubt get a different reaction

creepy men often appear very nice I am surprised this has been the response from so many that he seems like such a nice guy

TennisWithDeborah · 14/10/2024 15:14

I think that Punam picked up votes because viewers get cross about undermarking. I chucked her a vote even though Montell is my favourite.

I think she'll need to perform much better on Saturday (or again obtain unfairly low scores from the judges - and thereby public sympathy).

xsquared · 14/10/2024 16:21

On the contrary, I think Punam was marked realistically. It's just that others were scored too high!

Nothing against Punam though, as I voted for her to avoid the dance off. However, if she did end up in the DO, it would have given her an opportunity to correct the mistakes and win it, but not if she was against Shane.

Yes, that's a good way to put it. The scoring has been just silly for several years now.

Kai doing Choreography Corner in a suit. Just fab

I agree. Just watched them on ITT - I'm still not buying the inside joke and they really didn't (couldn't!) explain it!

Re the costumes. We've had cowboy boots twice so far and noboby should be wearing them because they completely hide what the feet are doing, or not doing. I'm sure that Tasha's feet didn't need hiding, but it was clear that Toyah's did. Not that it ultimately "worked" because she was sent home. I just don't want to see them again this year because they look wrong in all of the dances no matter how "fun" that dance is.

I would like to see a woman win this year. Or Chris, I wouldn't mind at all if it was him. If it's a woman then Sarah or Montell because they're lovely to watch. I like Sam a lot but I'm not convinced she'll improve enough to be a contender. If she does I'd love to see her with a chance for the glitter ball. I also LOVE Punam but I don't think she's got what it takes to reach a final either. I hope she stays in for as long as possible though.

I'd like to see Paul out next, he was way better on Saturday night but I still get the feeling that he's really not that into it.

ilovesooty · 15/10/2024 12:50

Punam and Gorka have a lovely Viennese waltz to the same song as Sharon and Darren used. Paul and Karen have the Samba. I think he's doomed.

I think he's doomed whatever he dances.
I did think he'd improved on Saturday. I was quite surprised.

xsquared · 15/10/2024 14:07

Complete list

✨🪩 Montell & Johannes Couple’s Choice to Skeleton Move by KG, Zanda Zakuza
🪩 Punam & Gorka Viennese Waltz to She’s Always A Woman To Me by Billy Joel
🪩 Sam & Nikita Quickstep to Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield
🪩 Sarah & Vito Samba to Do It Do It Again by Rafaella Carrà
🪩 Tasha & Aljaz Tango to Dog Days Are Over by Florence + The Machine
🪩 Chris & Dianne Waltz to You’ll Never Walk Alone by Gerry and the Pacemakers
🪩 Jamie & Michelle Paso Doble to Malagueña by Ernesto Lecuona
🪩 JB & Amy Jive to Hey Ya! by Outkast
🪩 Paul & Karen Samba to Car Wash by Rose Royce
🪩 Pete & Jowita Rumba to Don’t Look Back In Anger by Oasis
🪩 Shayne & Nancy American Smooth to Get Here by Sam Smith
🪩 Wynne & Katya Quickstep to Mr. Blue Sky by Electric Light Orchestra

Dan Walker amd Nadiya did "She's always a woman" not that long ago.

How will a rumba work to "Don't look back in anger"? Or quickstep to Unwritten, which I think is far too slow. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I think JB amd Amy's Jive will work well to Hey Ya!

TheShellBeach · 15/10/2024 14:10

That sounds like it's going to be a good show for once!

Looking forward to Chris & Dianne and Wynne & Katya.

xsquared · 15/10/2024 14:29

I'm pleased to see that Jamie and Michelle have traditional flamenco music.

Hopefully they will be dressed in a traditional outfit too.
Michelle will look amazing in a flamenco dress, and for once Jamie won't be in something that makes him look daft!

Lentilweaver · 15/10/2024 14:32

Montell appears to be studiously avoiding Latin.
