I've finished episode three which was similar ( ish ) to episode two.
Love this and I hope it's resolved as wondering what has become of James and the one who was working with him.
David Mitchell is very good.
Thought I'd start a spoiler thread but can't do the links for it.
Put the word out ..

I just have the impression that it was always John, but he didn't pursue Lucy and she probably became upset with the lack of any affection and went for James !
( just my opinion though !)

I also think Lucy originally (and probably still) loved John 'more', but he doesn't have or can't have romantic feelings for her - or maybe anyone, could be asexual.

Oh do you think the brother wants to bring them together?! Hence all this puzzling and bonding?

also loved it - great cast. Not sure we needed both young detectives but liked them

Oh I loved DC Evans became all star struck when he found out that "The Gov" was actually Ludwig, and got him to sign his mum's book!

It's nice, easy watching.
Clever with nice comic bits, mostly involving the gormless DC Simon Evans.
Suspension of disbelief is mandatory, the way everything gets wrapped up neatly.
Except for James's disappearance obviously.
He was watching while they stacked the boxes from the lock up into the car.
So he is alive.
I liked the way they got John off the hook re prison.
Is the boss lady a goodie or a baddie ?
Initially I thought a baddie but now I don't think so.
Who is Ziegler ?

It wasn't every seventh word, that was just his first guess. It was a sequence of numbers in the notebook multiplied by seven for each word.

So if the sequence in the wallpaper covered notebook was 5 - 1 - 10 for example it would be 35th word, 7th word, 70th word.
