Just watched the documentary about him.
I never liked the man.
I always thought he was full of s* and a dodgy character but omg what a complete bastard.
Rapist and sex pest.
I always felt he was not a genuine person. Other predators have seemed more convincing such as Stuart Hall ( admittedly I was a fan of It’s a Knockout.) and dare I say it Rolf Harris. Albeit I was a child and watched men like this on TV.
Shame this didn’t become public knowledge whilst he was still alive.

Absolutely sickening he lived a very charmed life and has now died without his victims getting justice.

Max Clifford is also a sickening individual.

It was a really hard watch.

Holidayhell22 · 19/09/2024 22:54

Yes so many men are sex pests.
I do not trust anyone.
It doesn’t surprise me anymore when X or Y are revealed to be rapists or sexual predators.
I always got insincere vibes from Al-Fayed. I could never understand people crying on his behalf. Diana was not engaged to his son, she was seeing a doctor at the time. She used Al-Fayed like he used her. Reminiscent of Jackie Kennedy and Aristotle Onassis. A convenient arrangement.
Al-Fayed was responsible for the death of his son. He put him in the car with a pissed up driver!!!! Great parenting.
This just makes me detest him more.

Not at all surprised by this. When I was in Uni nearly 30 years ago, I knew a girl who worked at Harrods and distinctly remember her telling us that he was lecherous and would roam the shop floor looking for attractive girls to target. It was an open secret. Shocking that predatory men like him got away with it when they were openly acting like this.

TheaBrandt · 20/09/2024 06:30

Same Back. Friend of a friend worked at Harrods and he would creep around the make up department on Friday afternoons to try to persuade/ coerce the young assistants to go to his hotel in Paris with him for the weekend 🤮🤮

Cattyisbatty · 20/09/2024 07:26

Doesn’t surprise me at all re Al Fayed. He gave off massive creep vibes.

BeardofHagrid · 20/09/2024 11:33

I haven’t watched it yet but I saw bits of the preview that was on the 6pm news last night. I noticed one of the women said she went to her lawyer after it happened. Why didn’t she go to the police?

PaininthePreferbial · 20/09/2024 11:36

I'm not easily shocked anymore but the fact that he sent his victims for 'medicals' ie STD checks before he raped or attempted to rape them got me. What an odious little shit.

I agree, it was a hard watch. Yet another snivelling cunt who got away with it.

Have you any idea how abusive the legal system is to women who have been raped? Let alone if you are raped by someone 'untouchable' due to their money/power?

One of the talking heads on the programme was, I believe, a high ranking ex-copper, who said Al-Fayed had everyone in his pocket and admitted that these poor victims would have had nowhere to turn. Shocking.

I worked on a make-up counter at Harrod's and he would do his rounds, eyeing the candy. I was warned by my colleagues that he was predatory and his attention was something very few women wanted. At the time, it was the bagpipe band and the harpist that probably got to me more than Al-Fayed's walkabout. I never observed anything other than his walk-throughs. And I never knew anyone who'd had anything to do with him. So, at the time, I just thought he was a bit of a creep who enjoyed looking at his 'hired help'.
I couldn't stand working there though. Soul destroying place.

Swancastle · 20/09/2024 13:35

They were examined by Dr Wendy Snell and had their sexual health results ( perk of the job they were told) sent to Al fayed. Wtf. No patient confidentiality either.

Holidayhell22 · 20/09/2024 14:12

Reminds me very much of JS who acted in plain sight. He was also very well in with those in the legal system.

Just like JS he knew exactly how to play a character and exactly what being seen to be trusted by a member of the royal family can do to protect your image.

That bit on TFI Friday where the women are all putting out their hands to touch him, he goes up to one of them and as she goes to kiss him on the cheek he pulls her face to his lips (exactly as described by one of his employees). Absolutely hiding in plain sight just like Savile.

Skipsurvey · 21/09/2024 07:13

before they started work they allegedly had a medical, including a smear
just shocking.
and it went on so long, the poor 15 year old

A daisy chain of scumbags.

Al Fayed* got Fulham FC fan Keith Allen to direct a conspiracy stirring film about the death of Princess Diana that He was responsible for by employing a drunk driver

Unlawful Killing is a 2011 British documentary film about the deaths of Diana, Princess of Wales, and Dodi Fayed on 31 August 1997 directed by Keith Allen and financed by Dodi's father Mohamed Al-Fayed at a reported cost of £2.5m. It had a single trade screening during the 2011 Cannes Film Festival

  • Apparently he wasn't the eldest son so didn't have the right to use the 'Al' prefix, said someone elsewhere, but did anyway

Where can I watch this? He always seemed to have bad vibes

Mrsredlipstick · 22/09/2024 07:11

This is a very serious matter. I worked in Harrods in the 80/90s and was warned to keep away from Al Fayed. He was predatory and threatening. Many people are involved in this scandal and tbh I was horrified that Princess Diana was in his company, ditto the princes.
The alleged drugging, filming and rapes don't surprise me in the least.
I know I had a lucky escape but perhaps due to my family background (law) he kept away.
The doctor who carried out the 'health screening' needs to be charged with grooming and struck off.
The current owners of Harrods must be appalled.
The estate of Al Fayed will be paying out big bucks.

He is a vulgar monster - and there are many many of them.

Worst thing is: in much of the developing world and BRICS countries, landing a job where you caught the billionaire bosses eye and got to use a flat in the upscale part of the capital would be considered a job a well done. (Worked abroad a lot). And after having the misfortune of working in the City for a time, I would say there are some here that would take it on the chin, too (and probably did). Misogyny and patriarchy runs deep.

At least the message is out now to temperate the wannabees.

Because the police were in on it. One young woman went to the police and gave them her phone, loaded with incriminating messages from him. And recordings. The phone was returned to her wiped , not even working, and no other action was taken.

Another, aged 15, mixed up a Friday and Saturday night in her statement. They immediately used it as a resin to drop the case.

SUCH a naive question, have you read the news about the Met over the last decade? And bordering on victim blaming.
