OP, where did you get this document from? Are you allowed to share it?

SarahL249 · 30/07/2024 17:16

Yes it’s publicly available, the Guardian have linked it out in their article:

You can't actually read her emails

ASwimADay · 30/07/2024 17:31

Thing is he's saying now it was fiction but at the start of the series it said "this is a true story", not even "based on a true story". That's where he made the mistake and looks like he's backtracking now.

AgnesX · 30/07/2024 17:32

He's really milking this for all he's worth. Nasty little oik.

Victim blaming 🙄

If I'm honest Gadd underplayed how badly he was harrassed in the series.

Harvey sounds completely unhinged from that document.

Court documents are public...

Edited

Not remotely. He's brought this whole nasty mess down on his own head.

If he was a woman you wouldn't be saying this.

Disgraceful

MissMoneyFairy · 30/07/2024 17:56

Will the Court also get copies of any emails, texts or call records from him to her. It clearly said This Is A True Story so why is he responding when her case is against Netflix isn't it?

Gloooooop · 30/07/2024 17:57

That was quite the read.

SarahL249 · 30/07/2024 18:15

Clearly he has released this to back up Netflix’s positioning of the series as a true account of his experience.

There is so much evidence submitted to the courts here to paint a very accurate picture of the years of experience he endured at the hands of a prolific stalker. This evidence entirely mirrors the series. He’s willing to testify to everything submitted, and reiterates that they changed her name and dramatised events (as you would expect from anything that is quite clearly not.a.documentary 🙄)

In her defamation case it says she never stalked him, never emailed him, never left him voicemails. His evidence completely validates the events of the series and his right to tell his story.

Plus he literally never named her! I can’t fathom how it can be defamation, when she outed herself.

OP posts:
WalkInAStraightLine · 30/07/2024 18:19

Yes, I've never quite understood how she could say 'I'm the person portrayed as stalking him, except I didn't stalk him'... in what way was it supposed to be you then?!

I know others had pointed the finger right at her though with her tweets as examples but I think she could have said 'that's not me'.

Anyway, if she's brought the lawsuit (against a fictionalised drama) then she must have been expecting this.

And all the while it's not the worst thing that happened to him in the show....

BeerForMyHorses · 30/07/2024 18:21

What Fiona Harvey did was awful, and all stalking/harassment should be taken seriously and prosecuted.

However Netflix clearly states 'this is a true story' that's the point of the court case (according to her Piers Morgan interview) - it's not a true story.

As Gadd had confirmed in his declaration, it's a dramatised version of events.

All Netflix needed to go was say 'based on true events' like they do in most of their documentaries

SarahL249 · 30/07/2024 18:26

They had this end card at the end of each episode:

https://www.reddit.com/r/BabyReindeerTVSeries/comments/1cq8etu/netflix_did_say_it_was_fictionalised/

I can understand them saying it is a true story, when he has all this evidence. Changing her name was clearly meant for her own protection.

You sound just like Martha

GrimDamnFanjo · 30/07/2024 18:28

I think that not enough care was taken to disguise the identity of Martha. IIRC he repeated phrases she had tweeted to him in the script and that is how she was identified.

Oompapaoompapathatshowitgoes · 30/07/2024 18:31

It is much more of a true story than a false story as Fiona Harvey claims. She deserves every bit of shit she gets after putting so many people through so much pain for so many years. She’s a hateful woman who has committed countless crimes and enjoyed every minute of it. Lock her up!

LoneHydrangea · 30/07/2024 18:32

I think it totally serves this dreadful woman right. He didn’t name her, she brought it on herself by courting yet more attention.

Hi Fiona!

LaughingCat · 30/07/2024 18:41

Christ, that’s actually difficult to read. Can you imagine spending three years with this hanging over you? Being so on edge and low-key terrified? Watching your voicemail and inbox continuously fill up, desperately trying to look everywhere at once for a glimpse when you just nip out for some milk? The word that spring to mind is ‘hunted’.

I believe Fargo was "a true story" and it wasnt

All that and dealing with being raped too.

It must be horrific.
