Ready for the final on Wednesday!

Will Luke be a drag?
Will Ailsa's nerves hold out?
Will Pascha's cheery competence win the day?

I think Luke was strongest today but overall not the best. And I think the general standard is a lot lower than previous series whereas usually you'd expect it to rise as people are more aware of what is required

KnickerlessParsons · 24/07/2024 21:57

First ever male winner. I think. Can I say that about "them"?

Fordian · 24/07/2024 21:57

Wolfcub · 24/07/2024 21:56

Next season needs a lot less crap middle challenges and appropriate amounts of time for challenges.

Pasha has been consistent throughout but I think the last few weeks Luke has really shown their skill.

Their skill? His skill, surely?

No, There's been at least one other.

I think Pascha was a far better sewer all the way through, I think out of three Luke was the weaker of the three all the way through. I am quite disappointed in the result.

littlbrowndog · 24/07/2024 21:58

Aw Luke he’s getting married ♥️♥️

SoupDragon · 24/07/2024 21:59

Don't be tedious.

Elsas final dress was crap.

Binglebong · 24/07/2024 21:59

Eek! Puppet Patrick terrifies me.

Love Don's shirt.

Interesting that not many of the updates featured sewing.

No, be 'not surprised'. A man, and, better still, a special 'non-binary' person was always going to win.

And, as it was foretold.

Pascha was robbed. She was far better overall.

Wolfcub · 24/07/2024 22:00

Puppets also need banning from next series. I'm still traumatised by that thing

Binglebong · 24/07/2024 22:00

Don't be tedious.

I think that was genuine confusion.

I just feel the whole series has been set up for Luke to win. So many challenges suited to his skill for drag. Gloves, oh yes, I've made lots of gloves. Draping, oh yes, I drape a lot ..... Diva looks.... Etc etc

I don't think the tasks were set up for his skills he just has more skills.

SoupDragon · 24/07/2024 22:00

I'm going to watch all the previous series now (not literally now, obviously). I was saving them til after this as it would just show up the lower standard this year.

HeadNorth · 24/07/2024 22:01

Luke definitely deserved the win, it was a tough final and he was the best throughout. I didn’t like the final made to measure being draping, but it was and Luke won it fair and square.

MeowCatPleaseMeowBack · 24/07/2024 22:02

Right decision as they couldn't give to Ailsa with that mess of an outfit and Pascha messed up the sewing too much. But a very underwhelming series overall.

I think this year really suffered in comparison to last year which was so good. I think Asmaa would be my champion of champions

Fullyflavoured · 24/07/2024 22:02

I think Luke was the best of a bad bunch. None of them were stand out this year.

BiscuityBoyle · 24/07/2024 22:04

I think that this final played to all Luke’s strengths.
This series has been more of a show of ideas and creativity rather than the technology of sewing. Pascha was a very good technical sewer but Luke had the flair, due to designing and making for drag I assume.

Brefugee · 24/07/2024 22:04

frankly? i don't think any of the finalists this year would have got into a semi final any other year. I feel as though i was hungry for food but have had an unsatisfying meal.

What i want to see next year, if it comes back, is a pattern challenge of something that someone at home might make (tbh they've been ok)

I want the transformation challenge to be actual sewing of actual garments: so either take these old unwearable X and make them into a wearable Y. Or adapt this because the neckline is too high, or repair this... not stuff for the sake of stuff. (tablecloths to blouses, ok. Paper napkins to a dress? NOT OK)

And i want the m2m to have more of the m (2nd m) Much much much more of that. And not freaking draping (unless that is how the sewist sews) in the final.

I'm quite cross i stayed up late to watch it live, now.

PickAChew · 24/07/2024 22:05

Underwhelmed.

Fordian · 24/07/2024 22:06

Indeed. But from the semis, it was obvious a 'diverse', not 'skill' win was on the cards.

And here we are.

It’s not. Matt won Season 3 or 4 (I think) - there were two men in the final that year.
