I didn’t watch much of the opening ceremony after tuning in near the beginning and concluding it was utterly bonkers and not in a good way. Sorry I missed Rafa with the Olympic torch though, the pics made me feel a bit emotional. Hopefully he’ll be able to get some rest ahead of the doubles this evening.

Does anyone know if the Discovery+ app works outside the country? I’m going on holiday next week and unsure what the TV coverage will be like. I know iPlayer only works in the UK.

I can’t work out why on earth Snoop Dogg was carrying the torch?? He’s not an athlete, or French?

The ceremony was a bit bonkers. Dh reminded me that bits of the 2012 one was quite nuts too (and probably looked really odd to anyone outside of the Uk) I think it was an ambitious idea, all the boats etc- that just didn't quite work. Missed the atmosphere of a stadium. Celine Dion was great though- made me quite emotional, and I'm not really a big fan.

It was great to see Rafa- I'm glad he got to be so involved in it (he's always said he is sad he missed 2012). Poor Serena though- a boat ride on the Seine in the rain is obviously not her thing, she really didn't look well!

Before it started, Michael Johnson was talking to Claire about Snoop and apparently he's been very involved in the Olympics for months,and was asked to be a torch bearer. Still not sure why he was involved really- but a lot of Americans seemed to be.

Michael Johnson wasn't happy about Coco Gauff being one of the American flag bearers - he thought it should have been Simone Biles (not sure if he should have said that on national TV though)

The pictures from RG look very depressing (and soggy!) - Jack Draper is supposed to be playing Keith

I'm not sure if Discovery Plus works abroad either Ice - I don't think that Prime does do not sure if it's the same

I think Michael maybe had a point about Coco/Simone (probably not the time to say it) - she's not made her mark yet as an Olympic athete. Flag bearers are usually ones who have won previously, and been at a few Games. There are many others on a vast team would fit that bill.

As a tennis fan, it's great, they seem to be quite prominent so far- but I can understand why (since it's probably Simone's last games) he would question why Coco was picked.
