The Hour - series 1 & 2 on UKTV - who call it a Cold War drama

I started (re) watching this thinking I would just dip into episode 1 but had forgotten enough to watch both series. Which was interesting as for whatever reason I had never seen the last 2 episodes.

I found it more interesting than some of the current tv dramas that are now all so the samey, and superficial. Politics, media, criminals, cover ups and so on.

If you can get over the hugely inflated notion that news reporting is the saviour of the world it is quite interesting, and makes the 50s look very glamourous.

With Romola Garai, Ben Wishaw, Dominic West and many other big names including Anton Lesser.

And I always find Ben Wishaw really irritating (except when he is the voice of Paddingont), and Dominic West sort of type cast but very convincing.

Because it is UKTV (now known as U) there are ad breaks, but it seemed that the first ad break in each episode was quite long, but after that not to much of a break.

Just in case anyone is looking round for something to watch that is free.

Thank you for posting. I really enjoyed this when it was 1st on, but dont remember the 2nd series so will take a look.

Loved this show when it first came out. It's on Netflix and Prime as well.

I was mainly posting because I suspect some like me are always looking for freebies, and the ad breaks weren't nearly as bad as ITVX or whatever it is called.

Also, although I said it made the 50s look glamourous, well that was only for some. For others it was very sleezy.

And not exactly easy for women they would be treated equally!
