For a supposedly educated man, Ethan is really quite stupid - Firstly for driving the car - as Angry said, there were plenty of people who could have helped and secondly for putting his job at risk.

The whole Suni phoning from the lavvie thing was so silly too - why didn't he phone the police instead of NNN.

Exactly @RaraRachael Ethan is meant to be smart. He would have never got into a car drunk. He knew the stakes were too high. That's why the crash makes no sense.
