Watched the first episode of this tonight and enjoyed it, though it had the usual annoying Channel 4 repetition of key points after each advert break. Interesting that Keith is with someone who cries as much as he does! Though I suspect the producers were milking this a bit as it’s now so much his ‘trademark’. What a daunting project though. DH and I are doing a renovation at the moment and it was quite therapeutic to watch, as it’s a massive task compared to ours.
Anyone else watch?

Nice sink. I wonder when they will realise they forgot the taps……

Tigresswoods · 01/04/2025 22:27

I wanted to like this & they’re such a watchable pair. But it was slooooow.

rockstarshoes · 01/04/2025 23:58

I watched tonight’s episode & really enjoyed it!

almost like Return to the Châteaux but with nice people!

the kitchen looked fantastic & the sink was absolutely stunning & I never thought I would say that about a sink!

HelenWheels · 02/04/2025 04:47

how did they fill the kettle though?

Cottagecheeseisnotcheese · 02/04/2025 06:53

Did Luke it but generally hate when they show finished result in trailer so we already know what next week's room will look like when finished

I love this show and I'm so pleased it's back. Keith and Marj are adorable together and they make me laugh. The chapel is beautiful and I love what they're doing with it. I'd never heard of English Rose kitchens, but now I want one very badly!

LaBelleSauvage123 · 04/04/2025 18:13

The shipping container has quietly slipped out of being shown, I noticed!

I'm watching this on the back of Throwdown. I've never disliked a finished product as much as I have in each of the room reveals at the end of the episode.
I respect their unique styles and aesthetic but think it all looks a bit shit!

Thmssngvwlsrnd · 16/04/2025 11:16

I didn't like those 2 sinks next to each other - looked like they were in public loos. Also the black bathroom would depress me. Each to their own! I do like Keith and Marg though. What a lovely relationship they have.

TheHerboriste · 16/04/2025 16:28

That bathroom is GRIM. The thought of a drinks trolley getting covered in fecal matter every time the toilet is flushed…

The loo (and shower) are in a separate bit though, not the 'parlour' section of the room.
I quite like the room. The terracotta floor is beautiful but presumably freezing, though.

rockstarshoes · 22/04/2025 23:14

They didn’t seem to have many clothes in that bedroom considering all the outfits she’s been wearing! 🤣

I love how they are together though - he’s so kind to her!

WhatDaPoint · 23/04/2025 09:57

That oak and glass shop display cabinet is beautiful but I’m not loving their general approach to how they are decorating the Chapel. I think the wacky colours and features distract from the beauty and history of the building. However I’m a firm believer that people should decorate their homes however they want, so good for them!
Things like the icecream clone are too predictable.

I warm to them and feel they are genuine but the crying does my head in.

I still wish the show would give more actual information about the actual renovation.

Talltreesbythelake · 23/04/2025 15:56

It was mentioned on the last episode that Marj had just lost her Dad and had been emptying the family home. I think the teariness and Keith being so gentle are well explained by that. I hope they are thoroughly enjoying their quirky home. They are a matching pair of weepy, aging punk rockers!

MarkWithaC · 23/04/2025 16:10

I haven't seen the last episode yet, but on the previous one she was looking at what she referred to as her late parents’ cutlery and got tearful. I remember thinking then that it seemed like it was quite recent. Poor Marj. TBH I think Keith is just a gentle person; he's so sweet with all the people they're working with On the Chapel, and he's a sweetheart on the Throwdown as well.
