In the first season, the new Detective Constable found himself straight in at the deep end after a headline-grabbing murder of a local oil magnate -found dead as his company merged with a renewables firm.

Lance, alongside his new mentor, DCI Lara 'Bart' Bartlett (Hannah Donaldson) - a sharp, streetwise Aberdonian who is used to working alone - were tasked with finding the criminal.

S2 is 3 episodes (boo) on weekly

Filming on the new season, which will also consist of three parts, began in October 2023 and concluded shortly after, having been renewed last August.

The synopsis for the first installment of season two reads: 'When drug kingpin Grace McFadden's (Lesley Hart) notorious fixer turns up dead, the MIT have their work cut out to find the source of a new cocaine and ketamine compound flooding the streets.

'Fearing an impending drugs turf war is brewing, the team fight to uncover the truth.

'To complicate things, Lindo investigates the case of pregnant stowaway Mariam, who claims her partner was killed on their journey across the sea.

'At the dockside, Lindo and Bart's suspicions are raised by the guarded behaviour of Captain Anders Nilsen and his protege Axel Berg from the Stolthet, a Norwegian cargo ship which recently arrived in Aberdeen.

'After complications and conflicts arise, DCI MacMillan pulls Lindo and Bart off the stowaway murder case.

'With the drug investigation making slow progress, Monty and Mallick are further frustrated by the McFadden family's unwillingness to cooperate.

'As the investigation pulls the team in different directions, Lindo faces an added complication when his estranged father, Grantley, arrives for a visit from Jamaica. However, it's clear he's got an agenda of his own.'

Returning with Simpson and Donaldson are Dawn Steele as DCI MacMillan, Bhav Joshi as Mallick and Michelle Jeram as DS Simone 'Monty' Montrose.

They will be joined by new cast members including Hart, Patrick Robinson as Grantley, Afsaneh Dehrouyeh as Mariam, Søren Malling as Captain Anders Nilsen and Christopher Rygh as Axel Berg.

Sani Mamood, Sakuntala Ramanee, Sam Garioch, Layla Kirk, Kate Bracken, Melina Akermin Kvie and Alex Høgh Anderson will also be featuring in unknown roles.

Following the success of season one, Jamaica-born Simpson said: 'I'm delighted to be returning to

Scotland to film season two of Granite Harbour.

'I'm looking forward to reuniting with the original cast and collaborating with some new creatives.
'It's another opportunity to learn more about Aberdeen and take in some vital fresh air and open space.'

I grew up in Aberdeen and the accents in the programme were hilariously bad.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/04/2024 20:33

This replaces beyond paradise

I think the accents, whilst not Aberdonian, are certainly authentic Scottish accents. Most of the actors speak with a Scottish accent are actually Scottish.

You are so very kind 💐⭐️💐

I binged the whole thing last night. Perhaps a large G&T helped it to go with a swing, but I think I preferred this to S1 (which I don’t recall in detail - just that it was a little unsatisfactory).

The problem with this series is the directing. Far too clunky and obvious and first year film school. So one needs to push past that. But I enjoyed all the characters and it was (very) superficially engaging. And could any two people ever be as flawlessly well dressed as Lindo and his handsome dad?

On another note - I watch most TV / streaming on my laptop. But I’ve been away from home lately and having to watch hotel TVs has helped me to understand what people mean about ‘muttering’. TV sound is so indistinct. Stressful to listen to.
