6 part drama - on Sunday and Monday x 3w

Set in a fictional town called Chadder Vale, the six-part series explores an insular community that shares a real distrust of outsiders.

Five years before the drama begins, former Met police detective Riya Ajunwa (Wunmi Mosaku) arrives in town and has been waiting for a proper crime to investigate ever since.

Then, one night a local girl called Katie Wells (Rowan Robinson) disappears. Weird. What’s weirder is that the next day she reappears, seemingly totally fine.

The inhabitants of the town remain unbothered, but Detective Riya thinks the whole thing is a bit… odd.

From there, a “series of strange happenings and increasingly shocking crimes” begins to unfold.

The townspeople blame outside influences, such as the fracking site and its manager, Jim Bracknell (David Threlfall), but Riya is insistent that something else is going on, a view that gets a lot of the locals riled up. Sounds mysterious, right?

Leading the charge in Passenger is Wunmi Mosaku, who you may know from Loki, Damilola, Lovecraft Country, Alice Darling, and Temple. Here, she plays the lead role of Detective Riya Ajunwa.

Also in the cast are David Threlfall (Shameless, Funny Woman), Rowan Robinson (So Awkward), Jo Hartley (After Life, In My Skin), Sean Gilder (The Gold, Shameless) and Debbie Rush (Coronation Street, Brassic).

He's in six episodes but just billed as 'kid on the wall'

The smoking kid keeps popping up, always hanging about just watching.. i do wonder if hes relevant, or just a little addition to the weirdness!

I'm only just starting this today, as I have the house to myself and can binge!

I've realised I can't watch this in the same way I watch Corrie, i.e. half an eye on the TV and one and a half eyes browsing the Internet.

I got over halfway through episode 1 and realised I'd not taken anything in, so came to see if there was a thread on here, and started from the beginning, with both eyes on the tv. I was relieved to see I wasn't the only one feeling a bit lost with it.

I'm only posting to bookmark the thread during an ad break, and will put the phone down and properly concentrate now

I have really enjoyed this series and the anticipation of what is happening with the weekly wait

I heard it will end on a cliffhanger, which is annoying, I like all ends tied up! I've enjoyed it though. Hope shouty Linda gets her comeuppance! But wish Riya didn't swear quite so much! 😁

I watched it and followed it, read the recap and still don’t understand it. I think it’s too random and convoluted for me. I’m finding it too try-hard to be different and quirky.

I’m only still in to find out the connection between the game, the drug and the bread factory, and we probably won’t.

I won’t watch another series, just skim the recaps if it happens.

I'm intrigued to know about the oddball character, who has been hanging around in the background, usually smoking. Is that tying in with the cigarettes that Kane smokes, as well as the cigarettes that Katie "saw" when she was having hallucinations?

I think the police chief woman is involved somehow.

Also, I noticed that the police panda car has a really old style number plate - is that just to show that the town is a backwater and stuck in the past?

So many questions to be answered!
