The new series is set to air this month, with Watkins leading the cast as Simon, a mild-mannered family man who is pushed to breaking point when everything in his life seems to take a turn for the worse.

As if things couldn't get more awful for him, he makes a split-second decision when he's confronted by local teenager Jordan (Joe Barber) outside his own home.

The start of the video sees Simon given the bad news about being made redundant, followed closely by wife Beth (Claire Skinner) handing over a letter from the mortgage company.

Simon then comes across a group of teenagers assaulting an elderly man, trying to interfere to get them to stop.

But it's that interaction that seems to rile up Jordan, who tracks Simon down to his home where the pair get into a scuffle, which leads to Simon punching Jordan – with fatal consequences.

The next we see is that Jordan has been rushed to hospital, with his parents left to watch on in horror as doctors attempt to save him.

But with the community labelling Simon as a 'local hero', it's not long before the truth comes creeping up on him, and grumpy neighbour Harry (David Bradley) tells Simon that he saw him and what happened on that fateful night.

Will Simon be able to keep the truth from coming out, or will he be found out sooner than he'd like?

I've just realised where I know the mum from, Outnumbered! Love that programme

purpleme12 · 20/03/2024 22:54

He's a patronising git, his boss isn't he

purpleme12 · 20/03/2024 23:13

God what an awful place to work

purpleme12 · 20/03/2024 23:27

I don't like this. Threatening

hattie43 · 21/03/2024 05:13

It's getting better .

Paul and Jordan are menacing, particularly Paul .

Teentrauma · 21/03/2024 07:32

Can't wait to see the conclusion of this tonight. Jordan really is a nasty piece of work. Personally, I think it's been excellent so far, I can really feel Simon's anxiety, I'm squirming for him. Hope the ending doesn't disappoint.

TheAverageJoanne · 21/03/2024 08:26

Seeing as Emma last week got away with causing death by nail gun, Simon and Beth will have no worries!

TheAverageJoanne · 21/03/2024 08:28

Jordan belongs in a psychiatric unit he's got real problems.

If anyone has read Chris Sansom's Matthew Shardlake series, he's in the upcoming series as Simon who I recall was a member of Matthew's domestic staff at his house.

Teentrauma · 21/03/2024 08:39

Ah ha. Maybe that's it. They'll decide he made it all up and Simon will walk free. Paul will apologise to him for his son's behaviour and they'll be besties for ever!

Agree Jordon has issues but maybe as his brother died and dad Paul wants him to be like other son

His dad wants him to knuckle down and behave

Not sure how this will end tbh

Simon felled Jordan with a punch. Beth hit Uncle with a car. Maybe little Sophie takes out Paul with a karate chop, or a strategically placed piece of lego, and the family go on the run together.

Inkanta · 21/03/2024 13:50

This is very good psychological warfare. How's Simon gonna get out of this??

butterpuffed · 21/03/2024 14:02

This is really very good , all playing each other . Jason is absolutely brilliant and he is excellent at expressions ~ every time he looks absolutely petrified , I get the giggles !
Wonder how it's going to end ...😳

I really wasn't sure of this after Episode 1 but it's definitely got better and I'm looking forward to the conclusion (and really hoping that I won't be disappointed! 🤣)

ilovebrie8 · 21/03/2024 17:30

I like it it’s gripping! Jordan and his dad are menacing. Simon is brilliant you can feel his panic and stress!

Ooh wonder what will happen tonight?

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/03/2024 20:31

I really can't think how will end

Will Paul let simon off as he knows Jordon is now blackmailing him

Will he kill simon

But def a good ch 5 drama

Paul knows. Now what will he do 🙀🙀🙀

That was so bad. Personality transplants at the end.

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/03/2024 22:28

I said he would let him off

He knows Jordon was wrong to threaten him

And guess he did save his life

A slightly crap ending but unless someone got killed it was the only way

I’m watching on catch up. The ads are making me laugh though, every time with the “and relax” for the mattresses.
I feel as though someone without children is directing the child, in the park, “run and skip around the tree jumping and laughing”, in the hotel room, “jump up and down on the bed, laughing”.

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/03/2024 23:46

I want to do the woman's eyebrows on the bed advert

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 22/03/2024 01:47

I didn't think it was a crap ending

I only just managed to keep watching

Because it was so threatening

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/03/2024 07:37

Either Paul had to forgive him /let simon go

Or kill simon

Jordon is def a wrong un
