Shining Girls - Apple tv - Elizabeth Moss and Jamie Bell

Another tv series from a couple of years ago.

Starts out as a thriller but becomes something else.

Reminded me that Elizabeth Moss is such a versatile actress. And never realised that it was Jamie Bell playing one, if not the, leading male character. Very convincing.

Another interest was that it is set in 70s / 80s and it showed a world before social media. I thought that was depicted really well.

Did anyone else watch it, and if so what did you think?

NB - for anyone who hasn't watched it and thinks maybe I'll give it a go, there are some quite graphic depictions of violence.

Kirby Mazrachi suspects her attacker from years earlier may be responsible for a recent murder, but she’s challenged by her shifting reality.

I watched it and loved it!

I was gripped watching it, but had difficulty following the story, (not the series fault I get confused even by easy watching series) so may not have got all of the plot.

But really loved the way it unravelled the story.

Cant remember how long my Apple free sub runs, but will probably try and re-watch so as to see how the strands work together.

( not meaning to sound obscure but trying not to post spoilers should anyone nwo want to watch it)

Is it based on the book?

I think so. I am sure I saw a review that said it was based on a book.

Yes a quick check on wikipedia refers to a book.

I’d read the book and enjoyed it but couldn’t get into tv series. I give up after a few episodes.

I think that is often the case with tv series based on a book, for those who have read the book.

Especially if they have really enjoyed the book.

As someone who hasn't read the book I was intrigued to begin with, and then became hooked.
