This looks really good and meant to be very powerful

3 parts on this week mon Tue and wed

After the huge impact of Mr Bates Vs The Post Office, another social and political reckoning could be coming with the searing new three-part drama (https://www.stylist.co.uk/tag/drama) Breathtaking.

Based on palliative care doctor and writer Rachel Clarke’s personal memoir about the Covid-19 crisis, the hard-hitting series is an account of the life of a frontline NHS doctor through the pandemic.

“There is so much misinformation and rewriting of history around what really happened inside our hospitals during the pandemic,” says Clarke.

“The truth is, NHS staff gave everything they had in impossible conditions that sometimes cost them their lives.

It is an honour to try and depict the courage and decency of my NHS colleagues on screen, and I’m so grateful to ITV and HTM Television for giving me the
chance to show the public the truth.”

The three-part series is based on Rachel Clarke’s personal memoir, where she wrote about her own experience of working during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Set in a fictional big-city hospital, the drama narrates how frontline medical staff endured fear and frustration as they desperately tried to save the lives of coronavirus patients,” reads the show’s synopsis.

It recounts the devastating impact of the pandemic through the eyes of acute medicine consultant Dr Abbey Henderson (Froggatt).

Who is in the cast of Breathtaking?
• Joanne Froggatt as Dr. Abbey Henderson.
• George Georgiou as Hue.
• Lucy Montgomery as Clare Boxall.
• Georgia Goodman as Divina Aquino.
• Jodie McNee as Jules Jarmen.
• Mark Dexter as Mike.
• Bhav Joshi as Dr. Ant Vyas.
• Henry Meredith as Tommy.

Wasn't
Want to be discriminative

But caring for the sick and dying is diff from serving the public with food

Not saying shop workers not important at all

They were

But they weren't caring for the dying

OP posts:
JenniferBooth · 21/02/2024 18:45

Generally no they wernt. But there were some who died at home and they had to be being cared for by somebody whether that somebody was a supermarket worker or a taxi driver

Have you ever been on on ICU?
I spent three weeks visiting my 16 year old son on one last year and for the first six days I was there day and night ,the don't just put patients on ICU for fun they are there because the are incredibly sick and need round the clock 1:1 care because their condition is so unstable

JenniferBooth · 21/02/2024 18:48

@x2boys thats not what @Teagal is saying

Tons of people called them ALL out for 4years and we still are!!
You all just called us conspiracy theorists, shadow banned us and silenced us.

If you could see Hancock giggling/smirking in that interview and realise he was lying, why would you believe everything else he did. Also, why would you believe everything ITV tells you?

Just because I think that Hancock is an inept ,lying, corrupt arsehole doesn't mean I subscribe to any of the other insane conspiracy theories.

AnnieSnap · 21/02/2024 18:56

@Teagal you’re a deluded piece of nastiness

JenniferBooth · 21/02/2024 19:00

A lot of the self employed round here were taxi drivers One firm had 50 drivers pre lockdowns Post lockdowns............19

Yet its STILL get a taxi because the ambulances are stretched , on the competitive "not going to A&E" threads.

The absolute refusal to accept that lockdowns have consequences.

Whose saying lock downs didn't have consequences?
Lots of small Businesses didn't survive lockdown Covid has had far reaching affects in more ways than one
But the whole point of lockdown was to protect the NHS so it didn't get overwhelmed
Lots of mistakes were made nobody is denying that .

JenniferBooth · 21/02/2024 19:12

Then people need to employ some critical thinking and stop telling people to get taxis when they know there is a shortage.

Motherofson · 21/02/2024 19:14

@ Teagal You cannot compare Sweden with the UK. Lockdown was not necessary in Sweden because Sweden is not as overpopulated as the UK. Sweden has a population of 10.33 million and a population density of 58.2 people per square mile. The United Kingdom has a population of 66.65 million and a density of 701.1 people per square mile.

I don't really understand what you mean or how taxis are relevant here
There doesn't seem to be a shortage if taxis in my area and I use them fairly regularly

Rubbish, all we got on TV was fear porn and daily death numbers. The NHS, outside a few ICU departments in a select few hospitals was never in any danger of being overwhelmed. But the SAGE scientists frequently presented dodgy graphs that mis-represented the data. The iSAGE lot were utterly hysterical.

Yes, yes, yes it didn't happen.A few ICU deptartments that you checked on no doubt.

You sound well versed in expounding all your theories.
'Fear porn.' Hilarious.

purpleme12 · 21/02/2024 19:20

What an awful expression 'fear porn'

sunglassesonthetable · 21/02/2024 19:22

Fear was my best friend saying goodbye to her mother on the i pad.

Anything like that @Teagal ?

BoreOfWhabylon · 21/02/2024 19:23

@Teagal Why have you repeated the post by TerrysMum which was deleted earlier?

Why have you namechanged to repeat your conspiralunacy?

BoreOfWhabylon · 21/02/2024 19:24

Ah. I see MNHQ have caught up with you. Good.

sunglassesonthetable · 21/02/2024 19:35

Just because this is a drama about the struggles of medics ( I'm only on Ep 1) why do you think other professions were not appreciated @JenniferBooth ?

JenniferBooth · 21/02/2024 19:42

@sunglassesonthetable Go back and read my earlier posts. The other low paid professions i mentioned , a lot of whom will live in social housing. Do you really need me to link some social housing threads to show you how they are "appreciated" As well as what ive already posted upthread do i have to link a load of SH threads to prove it. Do i also have to start linking threads where supermarket workers were moaned at and called selfish for struggling to wear masks? EVERY time there is a thread about SH tenants on here they are denigrated despite many of them being key workers. You have a funny idea of appreciation

JenniferBooth · 21/02/2024 19:42

I dont THINK other professions wernt appreciated. I SEE it on here all the time

Newchapterbeckons · 21/02/2024 19:51

This is too soon. If made in five years time, perhaps. The very last thing I want to do is relive the pandemic.

You have some funny ideas yourself.

Just because there's a drama about NHS during Covid, you're off on one about people in SH being denigrated. Don't see it myself.

Personally I appreciated all key workers . My son worked in a supermarket during lockdown and I was also a key worker. I didn't feel under appreciated.

Also carried papers. Wore the masks all day.
Do get off your high horse.

RunnerDown · 21/02/2024 20:12

All key workers were amazing, and very brave to continue working during the pandemic.
But health care workers are dealing with aerosol procedures and bodily fluids. In extremely close contact for prolonged periods of people who all had covid. So their chances of catching covid are massively increased and viral loads are likely to be much higher. They are witnessing first hand how unwell people can become - and at the same time they are aware that it could be them next time. They are dealing with death on an ongoing basis - with all the psychological trauma that’s causing. It’s just at a different level than other key workers .
