Do contestants have to wear the same clothes per episode

My guilty pleasure is watching things like the Great British Bake Off, Master Chef and at the moment the Great Pottery Throw Down. I've noticed that per episode no one seems to change their clothes.

Yesterday's episode of the Pottery Throwndown had (I think) 3 hrs to make a teapot and 2 cups, all contestants wearing said outfit, pots went into the kiln thingy, then a throwndown challenge, same outfit. They then had another 3 hours to paint their teapots, still the same clothes (contestants and judges). The teapot goes for firing (which I presume isn't a 5 minute job, maybe overnight) and the judging starts again - everyone still wearing the same clothes. Sometimes the challenges themselves take well over 10 hrs, not to mention any in between challenges.

I know it's not life or death but I've seen the same with all these types of programs. Do they get their clothes laundered by Channel 4 between takes, do they have to wear dirty clothes or are they expected to sit around for hours on end waiting and then spend about 6/7 hrs making stuff and then wait for their pots to bake? I think I've given this way too much thought but I ponder on it every week.

I think so. I’ve noticed the same on Bake Off. I think it makes it easier to edit.

I knew someone who was on the X Factor & for each round (weeks apart) they had to wear the same clothes, presumably so that footage could be cut & edited as it suited the programme in order to weave the required story.

yes i've read eslewhere that they have to wear the same clothes for whole episode as they cut and splice during editing

They seem to have a change of clothes per episode but never change outfitsduring an episode (if that makes sense).

Think I'll have to see if anyone gets clay over them at the start of next week and if it's still there at judging time

I know on Dragon’s Den the dragons wear the same outfit for the whole series. I have heard them say the men wear the same socks, the women the same nail polish and can’t get their hair cut.

Same with X factor. My friend went blonder & they weren't best pleased!

I'd say yes I know some one who went on Place In The Sun and she said worst part was having to wear same clothes all the time for filming

I came on to say this.

Apparently they view a house a day over a week or however long, but to make it look like they did it in one day they have to wear the same outfit every day of filming
