My DD and I like watching fictional crime shows & am hoping for some recommendations for new ones.

The stuff we like:
The Rookie
SWAT (ending soon 🙁)
FBI
Magnum PI
Castle
9-1-1
Macguyver
NCIS LA
The new CSI Las Vegas
How to get away with murder
The night agent
And the good oldies like murder she wrote, diagnosis murder etc

What we don't like:
Chicago fire/med/pd (liked it to start with but its now boring)
FBI most wanted
Law & Order (don't like the time hopping)
Criminal minds (too gory)
Ant true crime documentaries etc

Also like the UK small series stuff like trigger point, vigil, broadchurch, body guard etc but we prefer a good long episode season (22 ish) so we can get really into it & these tend to be more of the american dramas.

Most of the stuff we watch has been cancelled in the last 2 years or so and we're looking for new things to watch together as it's the only thing we really enjoy doing together.

Any suggestions?

We have Now TV, Disney+, netflix, amazon, paramount plus all the UK streaming apps.

Thanks!

The Killing - American version - 4 seasons on Channel 4. We’re enjoying that at the moment.

PuttingDownRoots · 11/02/2024 21:45

Presume you've watched 911 lone star?

Justhereforaibu1 · 11/02/2024 21:53

Love/Hate

SiliconHeaven · 11/02/2024 21:55

Check out Will Trent and the Lincoln Lawyer.
Think you’ll like them, we have exactly the same taste in shows :)

SiliconHeaven · 11/02/2024 21:57

Oh and you mentioned Macguyver but not Hawaii 5-0?
might just have forgotten but that was awesome too

EwwSprouts · 11/02/2024 21:58

Assume you've watched Shetland?
Old style - Monk, The Rockford Files, Bergerac
Loved Bosch recently
The Blacklist is really good but might be verging into too gory.

Old but good, Line of Duty. We rewatched all of the series in 3 weeks last month.

Slow horses

I’ve just watched all 86 episodes of Spooks and am now halfway through Waking the Dead. Both are great watches, the noughties seem to have done really good crime stuff. If you haven’t watched Happy Valley you have a treat in store.

We've just started season 2 of hope Street on BBC. It's not great but easy to watch.

XelaM · 11/02/2024 23:33

Happy Valley
Guilt

True Detective on sky season 4 with Jodie foster! Really good but have to wait a week for the final episode (6 in total) I am about to start downloading from season 1 - I was surprised how much I enjoyed it 👍

Bones, on Disney + has 12 seasons so should keep you bust for a while. The original NCSI also on Disney plus.
Then on the BBC Death in Paradise.

Iwant2beJessicaFletcher · 12/02/2024 07:05

Definitely going to start watching these! Thanks eveeyone

Another vote here for Love/Hate and Shetland, both very different sides if the law but both fantastic!

Monkeytapper · 12/02/2024 07:15

Snowfall on bbciplayer, bit like Narcos/Breaking Bad

MissyB1 · 12/02/2024 07:21

True Detective
Vera
Shetland
Trigger point (second series is on now but watch the first series first).

BuffyWillow · 12/02/2024 07:44
