What are the downsides of going on The Traitors?

I've loved watching The Traitors, UK, US and AU versions, and I'm considering applying for series 3 (deadline today) because I think it could be great fun. However my family seem to think it would be a terrible idea with lasting negative repercussions. Obviously there's next-to-zero chance I would actually be selected, but what do you all think about the pros and cons of going on the show? I might need a reality check!

Question to all of you: would you consider taking part?

I wouldn’t. I’m rather too self conscious. I constantly put myself in the shoes of the faithfuls being constantly accused of being traitors & them relentlessly trying to defend themselves with zero proof. It’ll break me.

@ADoseOfReality if you do get on we’ll have to give you some MN specific phrases to say to try and slip through the edit so we know it’s you 😜

I reckon most of the cast make very little impact on the public. Watching the final, I couldn’t remember the names of half of them. The later ones get more attention but not all negative at all. And I think the BBC press machine did pretty well at dialling down the negativity around Paul and Harry with their appearances on various other shows.

I've been manipulated and betrayed in RL too often, and I really really don't like it. Not one bit, and I take great exception to being lied to. Being bullied as a child doesn't help much either. It's surprising just how long those scars last.

So it's a 'No' from me.

The worst thing would be reading the thread on here afterwards and everyone saying you're an eejit!

I have applied Smile I would love to be on the traitors!
For me, the potential down side is that I might not come across well because the programme would be edited for dramatic effect. I saw Diane interviewed where she said on the first round table she accused Anthony for several valid reasons, but the editing only showed her saying because he wouldn't move in the line, and it made her look petty. So that sort of scenario worries me.
But any down side would be short lived. How often do you hear from/about most of the first series players? At most you are in the public eye for a couple of months.
I think it would be a great experience, I desperately hope I get picked but I doubt I will be considered TV material.

OP did you apply!?

I wouldn't be fit enough to do the challenges involved otherwise I would love to do the rest of it!
