Is Asif the most unpleasant candidate? I really can't take to him at all.
I'm amazed that people paid that much for cheesecakes, but it was London.

He’s definitely the most unpleasant candidate I can remember. Normally they’re just arrogant twats rather than being actively unpleasant.

If there’s any truth to what’s being reported in the media about him, I think the GMC ought to be taking a look at him as well.

Flo is my early favourite. Her business idea is a recruitment consultancy- not cupcakes or eyelash extensions thank the Lord- and she used to play netball professionally. Her face also appears to be the one she was born with, always a bonus!

saturnspinkhoop · 10/02/2024 11:22

That expert clearly posted on the Mumsnet Christmas themed penguins thread!

Actually at one point, I was thinking that the girls would lose and it would come to light that they’d made huge errors on costings.

I hope they have the episode where they sell at one of those big shows (eg Ideal Home Exhibition). I also like the ones where they have to get a list of items as cheaply as possible.

I do agree that some of the tasks don’t seem to be very well designed. It’s also artificial and one size fits all. You could have an amazing business person do really badly on the Apprentice because the rushed nature, rules and restrictions, group work and tasks don’t suit them.

Made me laugh
Loved that guy

I can barely believe Tom Pellereau won, I'm.sure he'd be too nice/normal to even get past the audition stage now!

I remember on one task several years ago (it was a food one) someone was bollocked by LS for not making enough "sows"....which was true - they hadn't actually made many sales because they were in the kitchen making burgers for other people to sell!! 🙄

Thats happened on more than one task over the years and I remember people being fired because of it. Not selling enough because they've been a 'doer' in the kitchen. Utter madness.

Tom Pellereau was back in the days when the candidate would be hired as an employee. There was a definite shift in the type of candidate when they had to arrive as an entrepreneur. Some of them have perfectly good businesses but others are clearly chancers and fantasists - that bloke whose business plan was two pieces of A4, one side of which was covered in pictures of tiny ships leaps to mind.

Wasn’t he one of the first after it changed to investing in a business?

Yes - you're right, sorry.

I do agree with the shift in the type of candidates, though. He was about the last winner who seemed to be there for a business reason, not for self-promotion.

That was Solomon. He was actually reasonable at a lot of tasks, and nowhere near as much of an arse as some of the recent blokes. But that interview with Claude was classic!! 🤣🤣

Fizbosshoes · 11/02/2024 00:02

Was that the guy who went to Sandhurst? nor that he mentioned it

billysboy · 11/02/2024 06:53

Thomas on with Michael McIntyre last night
he seems to be building his media profile

Was he? Is he going the "personality" route? But what about his pillow company? Can't believe he was on the show in 2019 id have sworn it was no more than 2

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 11/02/2024 09:17

Rewatched them last night. Asif clapping in the first episode when getting the results thinking the boys have won. Twit.

Ooooooooy · 11/02/2024 11:45

Jack is surely one of the most attractive candidates in apprentice history? He looks like a model

I’m guessing asif is off next week. In the preview for next week, you can see his new team, and he doesn’t have the strongest players from either gender. if sugar already thinks he has no contribution, his team failing the task will see him gone.

saturnspinkhoop · 11/02/2024 11:52

However, it’s not unknown for some candidates to miraculously win their task… I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s around for a few weeks yet. Hope I’m wrong.

I hope Asif goes, can't believe Lord Sugar would want to work with him.

Ooooooooy · 11/02/2024 16:42

In a weird way, I’m looking forward to seeing Asif as PM next week and seeing him lead a team. I don’t believe his background will lend him to the task - it could be comedy gold

I do think on paper, his background as a doctor and him wanting to launch a health product (vitamins?) gave him him initial credibility to LS. But he seems to rile up people in the wrong way & has a questionable social media presence so any investment in him would be a risk!

id actually like to see him in the final 5, if only to be roasted by Claude etc

IGotItFromAgnes · 11/02/2024 17:00

Does anyone know when Lord Sugar actually sees the business plans? I always wonder whether he chooses the contestants or whether they’re forced upon him!

To mitigate risk, I assume his team would see the CVs/ plans in advance and vet the candidates so there’s no surprises. Then he has the final sign off in choosing who to proceed with, so nothing is forced upon him. He likely has a baseline awareness of the business plans but isn’t drilled into the detail.

in terms of seeing the actual plans and costings etc he probably waits until the episode, but his team would have filtered out anything controversial by then.

NeelyOHara1 · 11/02/2024 19:36

It's hard to imagine that any part of this programme now is left to chance. Still watching, but know I can drop out any time and not give a toss.

I read PM as Prime Minister for a moment then! 😯😂

Tory MP does seem like a logical next step for him.
