Brothers and Sisters - is it worth forking out on the DVD box-set for Season 1?

We missed this on C4 and E4 when it was on before.

Am about to pop and understand that b/f requires lots of half decent telly to watch

Am also a BIG Rob Lowe fan which is what's tempting me but are Ally McBeal and Sally Field too annoying for words (and thus cancel out the hot Rob factor?)

TIA

It's a toss-up, really. A ghastly tension between the two. Actually you could look at it as an extended metaphor for the first few months of motherhood.

I thought it was a bit rubbish tbh - as you say, Ally McIdiot and Sally Squeak just made it unbearable. I watched the first three eps I think and RL hadn't come into it by then. I gave up - Rachel Griffiths (whom I usually like) didn't make up for the rest. But then I don't like things like Sex and the City or Ally McBeal either, so maybe it just wasn't for me.

I think its is fantastic and cannot believe how good Sally Field is in it, she has moved me to tears in quite a few episodes, don't know if she's won awards yet but she deserves one.

Rachel Griffiths also amazing, really interesting character she plays.

Rob Lowe, plenty of very good scenes that he's in and he has great story lines.

I cannot recommend it enough - can't bear that they've gone to break in America and I'm stuck having only seen the first twelve episodes of Season 2.

My dh likes it too, which if you knew what a sports fan, super intelligent guy he was you would be very surprised (I have promised him I won't tell anyone he likes it)

I really enjoyed it.

I'm not a Rob Lowe fan at all - he reminds me of someone from the Woodentops.

I've never watched Sex and the City etc., but I do like things like Desperate Housewives and Ugly Betty - so possibly similar to those.

and just in case you are evaluating the type of taste of people who like this stuff to see whether its for you i would describe myself as a saddo who likes House, Studio 60, Huff, Sopranos, Frasier, Friends, Greys Anatomy and Desperate Housewives

God, I need to get out more
