Thoughts?

I was luckily able to watch this during work due to my job and it absolutely SHOCKED me to my core and really affected me.

Yes and the ladies with mental health problems, just all of it!

CreateHope · 29/01/2024 21:48

@Mrsjayy I don’t doubt he has PTSD but using that to excuse a serious sexual assault is incredible 🙄. And as the investigating officers said why the hell wouldn’t he have reported it???

Andthereyougo · 29/01/2024 21:50

Not guilty. Fucking madness.

well he is not guilty, .that's unbelievable.

Daddysgirl47 · 29/01/2024 21:55

It’s really disturbing. “You need to be desensitised to do the job?!?” I’m a teacher and every single day I remember that those children are humans with feelings! You can’t work with people and he desensitised. It’s so bad!

Turkeyhen · 29/01/2024 21:55

Omg that reflective practice chat? Wtf

CreateHope · 29/01/2024 21:58

@Mrsjayy devastating. He’s so obviously a lying fucker.

Mrsjayy · 29/01/2024 22:00

I can see how PO can be desensitised to criminals and crime they must deal with some awful things, not that I think anything on this programme is right.

CreateHope · 29/01/2024 22:00

@Turkeyhen appalling. The use of the word “buddy” and just an entirely unchallenging chat. God knows why the police agreed for that shitshow to be filmed - it’s done them no favours at all 😩

Shitshow is the perfect word. That Chief Constable didn’t even understand that the poor woman on the bridge did not have to make a complaint in order for charges to be brought!

Turkeyhen · 29/01/2024 22:06

How on earth did they all get off scot free? And allow it all to be filmed and broadcast!

Mrsupercynical · 29/01/2024 22:07

What a shower of shit we have for a police..All covering for each other from top to bottom. Shocking..I.O.P.C..SHAME ON YOU.

this is what I couldn’t understand. Why on earth would you make a documentary that paints you in such a bad light? Worried it would cause more people to think badly against the police as they’ve not done very well recently..

I'm aghast, the arrogance that they knew they were being filmed is astonishing.

They all basically got away with it.

The PTSD guy was guilty imo. If nothing else if he was as bad as he said why the flip was he still doing the job.

It highlights how crap the mental health service is, vastly underfunded bloody politicians should be ashamed of themselves.

Iwantitidontwantit · 29/01/2024 22:08

Just finished watching it and don't have the words for how appalling it was. Not one single action against any of the officers! As a woman I have zero trust in the police. The fact our tax money was used to pay, and then pay off an officer who raped someone makes me feel physically sick. Bastards and the whole police, investigating police needs a total overhaul.

FoamyBanana · 29/01/2024 22:13

I am horrified by this documentary. The officers are shameful and the lack of action to deal with them is even more shameful. I feel really sick.

Turkeyhen · 29/01/2024 22:15

I am just aghast. I know our public services are broken and the police are dealing with people in MH crisis all the time (although god only knows what's happening in London now the MPS say they're no longer dealing with MH crises - I dread to think how that's working out). I can't blame police officers for becoming desensitised. But these cases were so clear cut, it's beyond belief that the officers involved just got away with it with no consequences whatsoever.

FWIW I've had experience of this with the MPS and a family member in MH crisis and every officer involved was totally professional and respectful.

CreateHope · 29/01/2024 22:17

@Turkeyhen i was aghast at her comment! And what utter nonsense - using that logic no child abuser of non verbal children would ever be prosecuted! How could she just sit there and lie like that?? Do they think we’re stupid? 😳😳

Agree, I am just ... speechless

Blinky21 · 29/01/2024 22:23

A really weird decision by Avon and Somerset to be involved in the documentary. All it did was serve to demonstrate how there are no consequences for disgusting and even criminal behaviour. Unfortunately it didn't surprise me though, having worked with the police, don't trust them at all. Bullies and egomaniacs

StBrides · 29/01/2024 22:24

They all got off.
Beyond unacceptable, disgusting.

The police are totally toothless. Corruption rules.

Turkeyhen · 29/01/2024 22:24

Just to correct my pp, the Metropolitan Police have rolled out a "Right Person, Right Care" model, whereby MH crisis calls are passed on to other agencies so the police aren't constantly the first responders. But the other agencies are underfunded, understaffed, and in crisis themselves so I don't quite know how it can work properly in those circumstances.

Yeah. DH and I run reflective practice sessions routinely as part of our profession and we didn't feel it looked like a useful exercise. Yoj could tell the 'boss' leading it hadn't done one before or really bought into it as an approach. Maybe more went on than we were shown but it didn't seem like those officers were doing much reflecting or being challenged.

Lee Cocking's outcome made me feel utter dispair. The victim has been validated that she won't be believed, and he's blamed her in return.

We're more reflective than that in IT fgs

sendismylife · 29/01/2024 22:30

We can only hope that this does for the police what has been done for the post office. I felt sick watching it and even worse when all the officers get off Scot-free.
