A quiet corner of MN for serious addicts of Kdrama, or the K-curious. Most of our viewing is drawn from Netflix and Viki, with a sprinkling of AmazonPrime, AppleTV and Disney+. There are also platforms streaming content illegally if you go looking. We don’t promote them as they are peppered with pop-ups of “Olga” and friends offering a good time, but we can point you in the right direction. We also dip into Japanese, Taiwanese & Chinese drama as & when.

In categorising series, its important to note most Korean dramas have multiple strands - e.g. supernatural, romance and a thriller; crime series with fantasy elements. Genre-busting mash-ups are normal. Series that are tagged as dark may also have moments of comedy or the absurd, likewise fluff can have heavier moments. Writer/actor Simon Pegg referred to it fondly as “tonal chaos” - it’s part of kdrama’s charm. Blimey, that court case has more holes in it than macrame!

Moral of the story so far: be good, do as the adults advise, study hard, work your arse off, get chewed up in the same relentless system as everyone else. Every school swot I know (me included) learnt that lesson the hard way.

@FedUpWithBriiiiick has nailed the plot arc already though, good work 😁

The happy ending will be them setting up together as exonerated ace surgeon & anaesthetist duo, possibly with their own clinic but I think PHS’ story arc will be a return to meaningful medicine with real social value. I would not be at all surprised to see them working together doing vital, life-saving work at a refugee camp with MSF in the last episode and much happier for it. 😄

Oh I missed the saviour controversy. Perhaps a rural hospital in a medically understaffed part of South Korea then.

Really enjoyed Doctor Slump. They really upgraded the white truck of doom. Surely there was no way he'd stop the lorry in time?!

Definitely suspicious of the anaesthetist here too! The surgery scene was horrible. Both DH and I were basically shouting 'What did he do?!' 'Why is she bleeding so much?!'

There were lots of locations we clocked. The bar was in 'Call It Love' amongst other things. Sun Woo always met Dongjin's ex there.^^

Post Gyeongseong Creature and while waiting for new episodes of Like Flowers in Sand and MMH to land, I've gone back to some classics I haven't yet had time for. Starting with Itaewon Class, which I am loving so far. Now I get the love for PSJ. Just in time for Toppa Trumps 😁He's kind of like the male Ra Mi-ran, in the sense I can't watch anyone else when he's on screen. Great charisma.

I see great improvement in tonight’s Doctor Slump but I have no idea how they are going to fill umpteen episodes. Good to see the cute-meet between Park Shin-Hye’s BFF and Yoon Baek. Handy the the BFF is a big drinker - this will inevitably lead to plot advancing shenanigans.

Having just played it with DH (who BEAT ME) there's a definite turkey in poor Ahn Jae Hong and I may bump up one of his scores. Overall I'd say it played well. There's no clear TopTrump as different categories have different winners but some cards are definitely stronger than others.
