A quiet corner of MN for serious addicts of Kdrama, or the K-curious. Most of our viewing is drawn from Netflix and Viki, with a sprinkling of AmazonPrime, AppleTV and Disney+. There are also platforms streaming content illegally if you go looking. We don’t promote them as they are peppered with pop-ups of “Olga” and friends offering a good time, but we can point you in the right direction. We also dip into Japanese, Taiwanese & Chinese drama as & when.

Our list is cumulative so includes previous threads’ recommendations. Shows marked with a star are more uniformly loved or admired. In categorising series, its important to note most Korean dramas have multiple strands - e.g. supernatural, romance and a thriller; crime series with fantasy elements. Genre-busting mash-ups are normal. Series that are tagged as dark may also have moments of comedy or the absurd, likewise fluff can have heavier moments. Writer/actor Simon Pegg referred to it fondly as “tonal chaos” - it’s part of kdrama’s charm. I only have Netflix. On there, I have recently watched:
Abyss - probably the light/fluffier supernatural
Geongseong Creature - not entirely sure where to put that but probably darker supernatural (or crime)
Also wanting to watch season two of Sweet Home but waiting for season three so I can have a big binge watch so can't comment on the quality of season two yet. Again, darker supernatural for that.

AmVa I agree about Rowoon and the comedy, he's definitely growing on me.

ScarlettSunset Sweet Home 2 isn't quite as good as the first season but that isn't really a criticism as the first season was just so good and probably in my all time top 5. As FedUp says above for Geongseong Creature, we'll probably need to wait for part 3 to judge overall but it's shaping up pretty well, I wasn't disappointed.

Right, I’ve added Destined With You, Chu, Loup’s 2 Chinese dramas, Wedding Impossible, Chicken Nugget and some others I’ve already forgotten because I’m flicking back & fore. The only ones I deliberately haven’t added yet are Marry My Husband and Gyeongsong Creature until we’ve bottomed it out here. Shout again if I’ve missed anything. I’m going to check again.

Only got round to watching this week's Shogun last night. Agree with everyone's comments on the haircuts and fabric.

Was laughing at the very discreet brothel where the morning after, the prostitute walks you back to the village where everyone is standing around and knows exactly where you've been and what you've been doing. V odd.

On another note, DH and I are enjoying the term 'pillow' and may adopt its use ourselves.

ML doesn't have an Adam's apple beause he is doing a Bruce Jenner. This also explains the title, as he's always the one in tears. <cowering while waiting for the forehead flicks> 😅

Watching Physical 100 is exhausting! The challenges seem much more focused on strength this season, which seems to suit the team of testosterone fueled cocks. It's a miracle there are any females left in the competition! Seeing the all male teams look down on any team with a woman in and see them as weak is really infuriating 😠

I am enjoying watching it though, the budget must have been huge for the set design.

I completely agree about the strength-based challenges this year, Rowdy. I watched the elimination challenge after the maze with DS earlier. He said it was like a BBC wildlife documentary with bulls or elephants duking it out. There’s no space for the women in this year’s show. They are hugely impressive women too. I’m still amazed at the strength of the “weightlifting fairy” in the UFC cage near the start and the female MMA fighter who took on a male contestant.
