A quiet corner of MN for serious addicts of Kdrama, or the K-curious. Most of our viewing is drawn from Netflix and Viki, with a sprinkling of AmazonPrime, AppleTV and Disney+. There are also platforms streaming content illegally if you go looking. We don’t promote them as they are peppered with pop-ups of “Olga” and friends offering a good time, but we can point you in the right direction. We also dip into Japanese, Taiwanese & Chinese drama as & when.

Our list is cumulative so includes previous threads’ recommendations. Shows marked with a star are more uniformly loved or admired. In categorising series, its important to note most Korean dramas have multiple strands - e.g. supernatural, romance and a thriller; crime series with fantasy elements. Genre-busting mash-ups are normal. Series that are tagged as dark may also have moments of comedy or the absurd, likewise fluff can have heavier moments. Writer/actor Simon Pegg referred to it fondly as “tonal chaos” - it’s part of kdrama’s charm. And Pol, agree about KSH. I said to DH that his neck looks older than his face. He needs to be careful he doesn’t ruin his face.

Definitely post production blossom but I'm not sure bees mind about petals that much anyway.

Phew! The petals have markings that are visible under UV light and to insects - the ‘come hither’ stripes that direct them to the nectaries.

Now I want a UV lamp to see the petal markings on my plum blossoms. I love random knowledge like this.😁

Just watched the first QOT - I'll get it a day later than you Europeans because it gets added to Netflix in the middle of the night here after it airs in Korea. So will have to be careful on the thread. So far so good!!

@MigsandTiggs very funny timing with that article talking about the 'moms friend's son' at the start as I literally was just reading about a new romcom coming with Jung Hae in and Jung So Min called Mom's Friends Son. I now feel I have a better appreciation of the show title!

Hong Soo-Cheol, the brother played by Kwak Dong-Yeon and his wife Cheon Da-Hye remind me a bit of Seri’s eldest brother and sister in law in CLOY.
KSH’s character talks to himself rather a lot, doesn’t he?

Ok not sure now about QoT... bit of a wild plot line...

I enjoyed Park Sung-Hoon in bastard mode in tonight’s QOT. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a less suitably attired hunting party. 🤦‍♀️ When they got out of the helicopter I’d forgotten it was hunting and thought they were being dropped off at a polo match (edit) and half of them were headed for the Pimms and canapés marquee. 😂

I'm laughing at QoT - that's some weird mash up of a makjang rom-com chaebol power struggle. The ml's face is so full of botox/fillers/surgery that he only looks like his old self at certain angles 😂My fav character is the incompetent brother with the suspicious wife, or she could just be clueless too.
I want those jewelled slingbacks the fl was wearing. They'll look great in Lidl.

I haven't watched episode 2 yet, but I always enjoy Kwak Dong Yeon - he is always very funny.

Agree about the fillers and episode one so far has reinforced my 'him??' feelings about his top paid actor in Korea status.

In QofT, I didn’t recognise the maniac aunt as Ms Ma, the colonel’s wife in CLOY. She looks completely different.
I’m a bit sad about KSH’s face.
