Has anyone started watching Criminal Record on Apple TV? I think it’s fairly new out. First couple of episodes seem really good so far and have made me jump twice!

It’s been excellent, really gripping.m

Stephen Campbell-Moore, who plays June’s husband, is only ever cast as rotters and wrong ‘uns, so the second I see him I don’t trust him at all.

Zoë Wanamaker as the mum with dementia is wonderful, and Cathy Tyson’s just heartbreaking.

TheOriginalFrench · 08/02/2024 10:26

Ah, thanks, @Netaporter. I’ve rather felt his tricksy conversational style was script / plot driven rather than necessarily innate to the character.

But yes, definitely memory manipulation happened.

Erroll is such a sweetheart it breaks my heart to see him locked up - in a cell and in his head.

If anyone can direct me to a recent Cathy Tyson role where she isn’t playing a distressed mum - I’d be grateful …

I don’t think June’s husband is involved in the police story - but they are going to struggle to get past his innate racism. It seemed yesterday as if he was realising that himself.

I can’t stand June’s gaslighting minimising wanker of a partner. It’s got to turn out to be relevant, surely?

It’s very gripping I love the dynamic between the two leads.

TheOriginalFrench · 14/02/2024 07:53

Oh my - it’s there on my phone, but I have an Ocado delivery and Stuff To Do. Can’t possibly watch TV at this time of the morning …

Netaporter · 14/02/2024 09:52

@TheOriginalFrench well I just did 😂

What a ride. Best episode yet….!

No. Eight episodes; finale next week.

lazymum99 · 14/02/2024 11:50

I might wait for both episodes to be dropped. I can’t bear to wait for the ending

That was … twisty.

Dark.

Horrible.

Not happy with the direction it seemed to be going in. Not sure one more episode will be enough time to turn things around again. Sad

I felt the same about that episode. I skipped some of the bits with Errol and Hegarty in the flat as It made me feel uncomfortable with Errol having to go through that (silly I know!).

I’m not sure how the series is going to end. Hopefully not too disappointing as I’ve really enjoyed it up until now. I usually enjoy the second last episode of most series more than the finale, but not this one.

Well that was a finale! 👏👏👏

TheOriginalFrench · 21/02/2024 17:14

Really? Good … I’m waiting a couple more hours - feel it needs darkness outside!

Turtlerussell · 21/02/2024 17:42

I’ve got a couple of hours left too until I can see it!

I found last weeks episode so sad, I also struggled to watch it in places, it’s so oppressive!
They’re alll such good actors

Netaporter · 21/02/2024 17:49

It doesn’t disappoint 😉

Anjea · 21/02/2024 20:53

I thought it was excellent. Much better than the usual disappointing endings.

Turtlerussell · 21/02/2024 21:18

Just watched it. Didn’t disappoint. The acting was magnificent.

Supersimkin2 · 21/02/2024 21:40

I thought the killer was magnificent. Really nasty boiled ham type.

Shades of Grenfell too. I don’t think
Hegarty was a racist - I think he was exhausted and had to catch someone, so he grabbed the nearest man. Corrupt, yes.

lazymum99 · 21/02/2024 21:40

Just finished the last 2 episodes. That was really good all the way through to the end. Brilliantly acted by all

Plutoquest · 21/02/2024 21:46

What a great series! I’m so glad the last episode wasn’t a disappointment like other series have been!

Now there is nothing of interest to watch again. I’ve exhausted most of the decent stuff on Apple TV too.

Hegarty was almost a noble villain. He played it so well. The way he put it all on his colleague so that ‘Caesar’s wife could be above suspicion’.

And his colleague, with his I walked through fire for you scene - with his trembling hands. Thinking he’s carrying all the guilt for Hegarty like a martyr. And the way Hegarty crushed him, that he’d fed them noble lies to buy in to the idea it was all for the greater good, making the difficult decisions civilians wouldn’t understand.

It was understated but also devastatingly good tv.

Also feel bereft it’s over!

Anjea · 21/02/2024 22:02

The casting was excellent. Also Clive was the bloke from phone shop and haven't seen him in anything for years.
