i thought she looked even more of a mess than usual.

I love her clothes: her hair . . . not so much . . .

I love her hair! Rocking the shaved sides myself!

Maireas · 17/01/2024 22:10

I think, @Ladybrrrd , Siobhan is a wee bit alternative for some folks. The default female TV presenter is tall, slim, with swishy long hair. Nice to see someone a bit different.

I think some would faint at seeing me in real life. 🤣🤣 Think Siobhan's hair, only spikier, mixed with the lewk of that 'scary' punk from the Virgin Advert...Still, takes all sorts to make a pot!

Actually very excited! My DH has booked us a pottery course off the back of my excitement of this show!! Imma use the wheel for the first time ever!!

SoupDragon · 17/01/2024 23:03

I love Cadi's hair.

It’s interesting that people are commenting on Siobhan’s hair after my last post. Perhaps I should have said ‘from the neck down’ because it was her clothes I meant. People can dress alternatively without looking a right mess but it’s not something Siobhan or the wardrobe people at C4 have managed to pull together. The dress on this weeks episode was awful.

Maireas · 18/01/2024 06:09

You said she looked "even more of a mess than usual" - I took that to mean more than the outfit. However, style is subjective, although there seems to be an acceptable look for women tv presenters, and she bucks that a bit. Anyway, I think she's a good presenter on am enjoyable show.

SoupDragon · 18/01/2024 07:56

Her style isn't always to my taste but she in no way looks "a mess".

Please let's not spoil a lovely show picking apart the appearance of the only female presenter. If you want to look at the pretty ladies in frocks, flick over to Strictly.

I think that’s probably more your style than mine. I’ve never watched it. I don’t live in the UK.

It’s nothing to do with her bucking a trend. It’s about someone and her dressers trying very hard to make her look quirky and arty and not pulling it off. Instead, she looks a mess.

Maireas · 18/01/2024 09:17

Well, @StrawberryJellyBelly , I've said it before (and you've just quoted me) - style is subjective.
I think it's best if we leave it at that.

I liked it better this week - I found it a bit wild, last.

I think, @Ladybrrrd , Siobhan is a wee bit alternative for some folks. The default female TV presenter is tall, slim, with swishy long hair. Nice to see someone a bit different.

Oh - I love Siobhan, @Maireas - I love her style, her sparky personality - I love that she breaks the mould you have described - but her current hairstyle just isn't to my taste (but she has ever right not to ask my opinion on her appearance Grin). She is definitely her own woman, and you can't help but admire that.

Her style isn't always to my taste but she in no way looks "a mess"..

I agree @SoupDragon - she wears unusual clothes, often has an unusual hairstyle, but is never" a mess".

Please let's not spoil a lovely show picking apart the appearance of the only female presenter.

Is commenting on her appearance "picking apart"? She puts herself out there knowing that people will remark on her - and she's got the bottle to break the "standard presenter" rules. She dresses for herself, not for us, and good for her. It's who she is.

Anyway, I think she's a good presenter on an enjoyable show.

Seconded without reservation.

(In the interests of sex equality, I also find Keith's suits mildly irritating, as he always looks to me as though he has just grown out of them - but that's his style, and he wouldn't be the same without it.

Richard, however, is the Mary Poppins of pottery judges - practically perfect in every way.)

Edited because I'd typed "brakes" instead of "breaks". It is almost invariably spelling or grammar with my edits.

Maireas · 18/01/2024 09:28

Thank you, @Emotionalsupportviper - you've expressed very well what my thoughts are, too! It's so nice to see a different kind of woman presenting, as you say. Keith doesn't look good in jackets, the basic potter's garb suits him well.
Rich is just lovely, isn't he? We watch him on the Woodland Workshop as well, where his pieces commemorate and reward. Another lovely show.

You are commenting on my style on the basis that I don't want to criticise how a woman dresses? Oh the irony.....

Of course she doesn't look a mess.

unless you think anything other than a neat sweater and smart skirt plus heels is a mess.

Twinset and pearls.

It's the only way to go. Grin

No. I’m referring to you suggesting that if I wanted to see pretty ladies in frocks I should flick over to strictly. You assumed that would be my style. It’s not. You made the assumption about (my style) first. That’s the irony.

Fair enough. That's not your style, either.

But Siobhan isn't "a mess". I don't always agree with her style myself, but "a mess"? No.

Nononononono.

Not a mess.

AnImaginaryCat · 18/01/2024 15:46

I think Siobhán always looks amazing. She suits her style perfectly.

@StrawberryJellyBelly what did you think of Cadi's gluggle jug? Or are you just here to be a grimalkin.

LadyAddle · 18/01/2024 16:18

Just randomly - in the opening titles, aren't the hands shaping clay on the wheel beautiful? I always think it must be Rich.
