He brought his box of tissues with him. The show is really good.

What’s the point of the second challenge if you can win it and still go home??! Wrong decision 😔

BestIsWest · 05/03/2024 07:29

@Crazymadchickenlady I was supposed to be seeing him last night too but had to miss it. Friend who went said he was excellent.

I think it's used as a tie-breaker.

I do think that in this particular week, the only fair choice would have been to send no one home. I'd like to know why they decided not to do this.

I think I'd have also not sent anyone home. Maybe for the final it's logistically hard? (I can't remember if they've done it before).
I felt for Steven, winning one challenge and then going. Although I didn't think his bog was very good – a bit wishy-washy – and didn't love his painted plate; I actually preferred Dan's, and I'm no fan of his generally.
I am probably alone in finding Donna's khazi underwhelming. Thought the decoration should have been either very much bolder or really subtle and detailed, like her red plate in the first week.
I actually liked Dave's toilet the most; the judges were right, it had tons of character. I'd have found it hard to send him home when he'd made that.
I do think Dan's decoration went up a notch on his loo, but that smear at the back would have been enough for me to send him home. In the context it's a big misjudgement, IMO.

They sort of teased that they almost didn’t send anyone home, which I thought was very unfair.

I thought that, too - they shouldn't have said anything about that.

MarkWithaC · 06/03/2024 11:26

I don't know, I think they were trying to say this is how hard the decision was and that it came down to tiny things, rather than it being totally clear to them that Steven was the worst.

AnImaginaryCat · 06/03/2024 12:40

Just watched - it's a shame Donna didn't decorate the inside of her toilet - she would have probably got POTW is she had and Dan wouldn't which I'd have preferred, as I just can't warm to him.

It has to be Donna as winner next week doesn't it. Least I hope so!

SoupDragon · 06/03/2024 12:49

I'd like Dave to pull a miracle out of the hat and win.

I'd like Dave to pull a miracle out of the hat and win.

That would be lovely! I've become very fond of Dave; I really like his humour, and he seems like a gentle soul.
Sadly, I think it will take a miracle, and maybe a second challenge that's exactly up his street, and an off-day for Donna, and for Dan not to have another inspired day.
I'll be very happy if Donna wins, though, don't get me wrong; she's excellent, and I like her. Dan, I'd be less happy about.

LaBelleSauvage123 · 06/03/2024 13:58

I like Dave and his work - especially the cyclist and badger thing ( can’t remember exactly what it was) that he did at the beginning. For me he’s better than Dan because he combines artistic flair and throwing/building skills ( like Donna ) whereas Dan seems more one-sided - great at throwing but not so much at decoration.

SoupDragon · 06/03/2024 14:06

I quite like Dan and his inability to plan - I think I'm much the same when it comes to "creating". I tend to start something and it comes together as I work on it. I think that's why I prefer him to Donna with her steady, planned approach - it is completely alien to me!

Just noticed that the final is on at 9pm on Sunday after Crufts.

Grrr, they did that last year (?).

LaBelleSauvage123 · 09/03/2024 18:43

Oh I’m pleased about that - DS2 will be in bed for once!

Britinme · 10/03/2024 02:54

I've been restraining myself from reading this thread because I've been catching up with it on VPN from the US and didn't want to know in advance who went home when. However, our clocks go forward tomorrow so when it's 9pm your time it will be 4pm my time and I can watch at the same time - woohoo!

CadyEastman · 10/03/2024 11:14

Thanks for that Soup.

Wolfcub · 10/03/2024 19:03

See you all at 9 after Scruffs

I am more likely than ever to miss crucial moments by nodding off , and then pretending I wasn't asleep.

The insights I can usually give on The Apprentice after snoozing through entire board rooms are a masterclass of improvisation.

Lots of finger pointing between the candidates on both teams. Siralan makes some very lame jokes and marvels at the stupidity of the candidates. Marginally better team back to house and the real backbiting can start.

Piggywaspushed · 10/03/2024 20:15

About covers it!

Allchangename354 · 10/03/2024 20:27

The throwdown is such a refreshing change from the setting up to fail model. My impression is the timescales for the main challenge is realistic for a talented amateur. Could any potters out there confirm that or is there jeopardy I just don’t notice?
