In previous years she might have had stiffer competition (don’t ask me who, I’m hopeless at remembering the names!) and this year the skills/artistic flair gap is very wide. But we almost all agree that the tasks are becoming rushed anyway, which doesn’t give some people a fair chance.

I had to google Lois to jog my memory, and don't remember last season that clearly, but didn't she genuinely not have much confidence, rather than being faux-modest? IIRC she'd been in a 'just a mum' rut and was having to build her confidence and rediscover the idea of doing things for herself.
Googling her did remind me she was super-talented, especially at decoration.
