It's on tonight BBC 3, and dh suggested that we all sit down and watch this ripping adventure. I haven't seen it for years, and can't remember if it's suitable or not.

DS watches all the starwars movies often (got em on DVD), so action scariness not a problem.

It's quite scary right at the end where all the baddies' faces melt - I still find that a bit horrific now...

Having said that, I've ummed and aahed about letting ds1 watch it, who's 6. Haven't yet but may well do when he's 8. Depends if your ds scares easily - ds does sometimes so I try to err on the side of caution.

WendyWeber · 16/03/2008 16:13

I think it's OK - there's some killing, and Nazis, and snakes , and stuff - haven't seen it for a long time though

WendyWeber · 16/03/2008 16:14

It's a PG on VHS, I don't know if the version they show on TV is cut differently.

MegBusset · 16/03/2008 16:15

I first watched it when I was about 8, I'm sure. The only really scary bit is the end, depends how sensitive your DS is, I still have to cover my eyes

BBBee · 16/03/2008 16:16

yeah

EiWishFor3MoreEasterEggs · 16/03/2008 17:13

Agree it's the ending you should be a little concerned about. When they open the 'Ark' and all the ghosts (?) come out. Used to freak me out as a kid. Can't wait for the Crystal Skull to come out. I may go to the cinema to see that.

Hmmm. My sensitive 9 year old was freaked out by IJ and the Last Crusade which he saw by accident, so I haven't let him watch Raiders yet. I was thinking of recording it, watching it myself and then if not too bad, letting him watch it in daylight and not just before bed.

tigermoth · 16/03/2008 17:29

You know your son best and if he was freaked out by another Indiana Jones film, then you've every reason not to show him this one.

FWIW my 8 year old loves this sort of action stuff, even if he can get a bit scared in places. He just needs a cushion for his eyes, a cuddle from me or dh and a blanket to wrap round him if necessary, then it's all ok. In fact the scary bits are part of the fun - but then, he doesn't really get freaked out by action films.

It's your call. But TBH if he only saw the other film recently, I'd give this one a miss.

I think that's a yes then. He's not a hugely sensitive type.

But probably not tonight, cos he's showing signs of being a bit weary (mardiness, can't find a way to entertain himself now he's used up all his computer time), so I think we'll record it for another day.

Oh and Tigermoth, It's not MY ds who has been freaked out by another film. He hasn't seen any Indiana Jones's yet.
