I'm going to write the alternative version. May well get taken away and Shelagh will feel such remorse she will have a religious epiphany and go back to being a nun. Dr T will have a breakdown and end up and inpatient in some secure unit after clobbering the social workers and Timmy will end up caring for the remaining Yay kids but secretly hitting the drink at night. Cyril the super social worker will be the only one to notice and tell Trixie who will take him to the AA meetings and following her divorce from sweaty Matthew will start a relationship with him. Strictly forbidden of course because she is his sponsor. Cyril will eventually take the Yay kids. If he can take a random cat off the streets he can manage a few kids. Nonnatus House will grow a few of those magic bedrooms and they will all move in.

Talking of alternative versions have any comedians done a parody yet?

I think the don't touch the phone before 6pm was so ingrained in us for even local calls. Maybe it was different in Hong Kong.
