Jessica Raine was perfect as Jenny but perhaps she lacks range and hasn’t done well at auditions.

I didn’t mind Jessica Raine as Jenny but I got the impression she was a bit snobby about CTM in interviews. She mentioned that she never watched it after leaving & that she couldn’t stand being buttoned up in the period clothing. She found it all too prim & proper. I wondered if she hadn’t worked much just recently as she was on mat leave- not sure though.

JR did two programmes that were cancelled after one series. The Agatha Christie one with David Walliams and an army programme.

Jessica Raine is currently filming a second series of The Devil’s Hour with Peter Capaldi for Amazon Prime I think. The first series was very good.

She was in another series that got cancelled. I can't remember what it was called, but it was a period drama set in the north, where she was widowed and moved to where they were building a new town or a tailor something. I quite liked it.

She also had a small part in Line of Duty, she got pushed out of a window.

I think the army show you are referring to was ‘The last post’ I really liked that. And the other period drama was Jericho maybe? In real life, she had an affair (allegedly) with the bearded chap from Mr Selfridge (Ton Goodman-Hill). They have a child together. Meanwhile, Helen George left her DH for the chap who played the reverend Tom, had 2 kids with him and has now been seen with the actor who plays sweaty Matthew… never mind the strictly curse, it does sound like CTM is quite the hotbed of desire. Next we’ll be hearing lurid tales about Sr Monica Joan 😂

The period drama was Jericho. I found it interesting because my paternal grandparents lived in Navvy camps like these. My grandfather was a bricklayer, working on building railway bridges in various places around the U.K., he met my gran when he was working at at the Settle to Carlisle railway, she was eighteen and was living at the encampment with her parents, my great grandfather was a brickmaker.

My goodness. Yes!!!!! And I didn’t realise till now.

Yeah, Jessica Raine had a flurry of activity after CTM but in the last couple of years = nothing since the Devil's Hour in 2022, though now working on S2.

Seemed a little light - which is what made me wonder if she wasn't taking a step back from acting deliberately.

Are Trixie and Matthew leaving ??? Read that the writers have written out Matthews character. Sob

Covid plus the American writers strike means a lot of actors have a gap in released work recently.

I'd love for Trixie and Matthew to move on and the new midwives to get decent storylines.
More clashes between the old and new ways for treatment and more technology coming in.
