Anyone watching? Apologies if I’ve missed the thread.

I think it was annoying that the actress who played Lucille left before they could have wrapped up the storyline properly. It just doesn't ring true that a religious woman like her would have gone off and abandoned her husband, who had done nothing wrong. Cyril seems lovely, but there's not much to do with him as a character and he's yet another male distraction from the midwives.

greengreengrass25 · 13/01/2024 14:18

Yes why not do a new head instead

It doesn't ring true at all

IdaPolly · 13/01/2024 14:53

Home and Away and Neighbours used to just bring in a new actor so they could continue the storyline as planned. You soon got used to it.

Toddlerteaplease · 13/01/2024 17:43

I find Cyril taking on the vicar role irritating. They were very high church and would not have settled for a non conformist pastor.

Trixie made me cringe when the pregnant mother told her they were soon moving to their newly built house. Trixie had to go one better and saying they are moving and it will be a very exclusive place. Her terribly posh accent is even stronger in this series.

Ah Trixie with her early demonstration of the 'elevenarife' effect😂

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 13/01/2024 21:44

Having caught up, aside from the rude, house comparing Trixie, absurdity of Posh Boy doing the ironing and everything else. I'm thinking Nancy getting caught up in having young people around, Collette all disappointed because after finally getting to live together her mum is spending every night with the students and getting all caught up in the pay campaign and then those nose bleeds will be diagnosed as leukemia and Nancy will be all guilty because she thought she was campaigning for more money to make life better for her daughter but actually all her daughter needs is her mum. And Phyllis will try very hard not to say "I told you so".

Anyone spot Tiny Tim teaching the student midwife in the background at clinic? What's he actually doing? Is he still a student or what? He can't be qualified yet can he? Unless he's completed the fastest medical degree ever by being advanced through the years because of all the amazing knowledge he's absorbed from his dad. Anyway felt sorry for the student being taught by a teenager in an oversized white coat.

Also predicting at some point Tim will save the day and leave Dr Patronising scratching his head and proclaiming how wonderful the future of medicine is. Maybe not this series, next one.

Toddlerteaplease · 14/01/2024 20:10

Is the actress playing Nancy pregnant?

Toddlerteaplease · 14/01/2024 20:14

Not sure they should be discussing patients personal issues with the receptionist in the room.

Name854 · 14/01/2024 20:24

It's become completely unwatchable

Toddlerteaplease · 14/01/2024 20:29

It's very political now, with the talk of nurses striking and mould issues.

Exactly what I was thinking. Nothing has changed in all these years.

Toddlerteaplease · 14/01/2024 20:29

My prediction is that Trixie will crash the car and St Matthew will die in the crash.

I'm hoping she'll take Dr Turner and Shelagh with them

KohlaParasaurus · 14/01/2024 20:32

I'm throwing in a bet of acute intermittent porphyria triggered by a barbiturate prescribed by Dr Turner.

Toddlerteaplease · 14/01/2024 20:32

In a perfect world....

Toddlerteaplease · 14/01/2024 20:35

I thought it was porphyria as soon as he said about the urine changing colour.

KohlaParasaurus · 14/01/2024 20:35

I never saw a case of porphyria in my working lifetime.

Toddlerteaplease · 14/01/2024 20:41

I wish we still had oxygen tents. Then I would spend half my night shifts moving oxygen masks round every time the child moves. Because they won't wear a mask or nasal cannulas.

Toddlerteaplease · 14/01/2024 20:48

Cyril will get together with the nurse from Trinidad.

KohlaParasaurus · 14/01/2024 20:50

I was expecting Fred to tell Trixie that, actually, Violet is an excellent driver, having learned when she was a land girl.

But only after a lot of jostling about religion

Don't seem to have any problems with insurance etc

Why wouldn't she have a driving instructor

Totally agree, for the first time since I first started watching the first series I couldn't care less about it. It's the same episode every week and it's only week 2!

Because Poplar only has a population of 15
