I stuck up for Neil on the other thread, he's a lovely dancer and I don't get the hate either. Posted a fab Rumba video on there too :)

Wonderful news for Fleur.

I hope she continues with ITT too. She seems at ease with the interviewing and has a good rapport with the celebs. She's not too shouty either.

She should pack the daft rapping in though.

xsquared · 01/01/2024 19:30

I think I missed that episode and she didn't do it again AFAIK.

I like Neil too, he’s harmless and a nice person by all accounts.

James Jordan is such a disappointment

I really can't stand Neil - I won't say why given it's not in the spirit of this thread, but I'm really not a fan & wish he'd disappear from SCD.

Lentilweaver · 02/01/2024 08:43

I don't mind Neil- would be stretching it to say I like him- but I would like him to be given another chance next year. I think he should get an older lady and poor Kai given someone his own age.

ellebelli · 02/01/2024 10:08

I remember when these threads where full of poor Neil why does he never get a partner...then he did!
Then he didn't
After which for some reason people started to dislike him, I just think its because we don't get to know him the same,he's always in the background larking about(but they all do that)
If he got a partner he would become less of a caricature and more real if you know what I mean?

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 02/01/2024 12:22

It's funny isn't it? I liked Janette more after one episode of Escape to the Country than all her series of Strictly and ITT!

Lovely news for Fleur. Smile I liked her on Strictly, but thought she had a bit of an unfortunate run — similar backstory/niche to Molly and some dodgy dance theming.

I don't mind Neil, and he does know his stuff despite many posters believing he's pointless.

What I find tedious and hypocritical is those on here being relentlessly vile about him, and pretend that it's just lighthearted and justified because apparently he would prefer that rather to no attention.

Unless you know him, I can't see what makes him so awful to attract the level of vitriol against him.

theconfidenceofwho · 02/01/2024 16:26

I always disliked him @ellebelli as found him annoying but thought he was awful when he had partners - didn't bring out the best in them at all. Alex shone when she was with Kevin but was mediocre with Neil. I appreciate he's a champion dancer but that doesn't come across well to me at all on SCD.

MarkWithaC · 02/01/2024 17:46

Fleur got to the final though; not really unfortunate.
I liked her and Vito a lot. Their samba was a classic and their show dance a genuine showstopper. Hamza was clearly going to win, and I loved him and Jowita, but arguably Fleur was a better dancer.

xsquared · 02/01/2024 18:25

All three finalists in that year were better than Hamza.

Mollie and Fleur took turns in being in the dance off 4 times each, from week 3 despite having fantastic performances.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 02/01/2024 18:29

I don't agree that Alex Scott was mediocre when she danced with Neil and only "shone" with Kevin. She danced one week with Kevin, but got to the semifinals (iirc) It makes no sense to give the credit for that to someone she danced with once.

I agree. It's fine not to like Neil - although I do like him - but the relentless insults and piss-taking in previous years weren't okay.

I agree with this. Yes she did well the week she was with Kevin but she might also have done equally well that week with Neil - we’ll never know. And getting someone to the semi final is hardly mediocre!

SequinsandStiIettos · 02/01/2024 20:56

She danced twice with Kev - the Ghostbusters week where she had to lead him as he'd only learnt Tommy Franzen's couple's choice choreo 45 minutes earlier (while Gorks was allegedly getting his Starbucks fix) and the following week - when they did a very well received American Smooth.
Alex herself said, however, how upset she had been by rumours that she preferred Kevin as a partner, how hurtful they were to them both and that she credited Neil with improving her technique and confidence to get to that point.

I don't agree either. My two fave dances of hers - charleston to Pump Up the Jam and jive to Let's Twist Again (both of which I watch regularly) - were with Neil.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 02/01/2024 21:22

@cordelia16
How could I have forgotten that Charleston? Just watched... it was fab.

theconfidenceofwho · 02/01/2024 22:54

Just my opinion but I much preferred to watch her dance with Kevin - thought she really shone with KFG.

I think Molly and Fleur probably appealed to the same people so split the vote, just based on the week's dances.

I thought Alex did well with both Neil and KFG. That Charleston was really good, I'd forgotten it so thank you for the reminder!

Hah! I cannot see the title Murder on the dance floor now without thinking of Saltburn. What once would have been Ellie's salsa or Soph's Nomi Malone tactics music vid has been thoroughly overtaken by the sight of Barry Koeghan's naked willy dancing scorched into my memory for life. Xmas Grin
