A quiet corner of MN for serious addicts of Kdrama, or the K-curious. Most of our viewing is drawn from Netflix and Viki, with a sprinkling of AmazonPrime, AppleTV and Disney+. There are also platforms streaming content illegally if you go looking. We don’t promote them as they are peppered with pop-ups of “Olga” and friends offering a good time, but we can point you in the right direction. We also dip into Japanese, Taiwanese & Chinese drama as & when.

Our list is cumulative so includes recommendations and favourites from all previous threads. Shows marked with a star are more uniformly loved or admired. In categorising series, its important to note most Korean dramas have multiple strands - e.g. supernatural, romance and a thriller; crime series with fantasy elements. Genre-busting mash-ups are normal. Series that are tagged as dark may also have moments of comedy or the absurd, likewise fluff can have heavier moments. Writer/actor Simon Pegg referred to it fondly as “tonal chaos” - it’s part of kdrama’s charm. I’m pretty sure fugly Granddad knitwear is a thing at the mo. DS1 has recent (expensive) knitwear purchases which would have been laughed out of my student house if any of my peers had worn them.

I shared with some other friends, who have only put a toe in K-dramas waters, CLY and The Glory, while others in the group are a bit sniffy, preferring Scandi noir. @JungkookBTSarmyKdramaUnlimited - welcome on board, fellow ARMY here, but I am OT7 myself. Bit sad Call it Love is on Disney +, I can’t get another subscription service, so hoping it might come to Viki in the end? Jungkookie 💜 those guys will be OK though - if they can survive the idol trainee system they can survive anything, plus Jimin and Jungkook are enlisting together so they won't be alone. TheLoupGarou - glad it's not not just me. Jin always seems to wear his big and square but Hobi 😘. He wears his beret really well as well (have a thing about military berets being worn a certain way). Ooh thanks again for the Oppa pics! I've just finished Replay 1988 and feeling a little emosh. It felt like a slow starter but I realised that it had enabled so much detail and as the story became more complex and the flashbacks started it all made so much sense! Ahhh, I love how they pick up the pace until you feel you're alongside them all! It really did make me crave simpler times, so thank you for the recommendations. Exactly what I wanted 😘
I'm now debating between Dr Cha (after that article) and The Good Mother Bad Mother. Feeling like I need a strong female at this juncture. Any votes either way?

OppaDoppa both of those are good - I really enjoyed Dr Cha - I used to watch it on the treadmill at the gym. TGBM isgood too, a hard watch in places but still top class.
