For me the lines are a) that Layton is a current top-of-his-tree West End dancer and b) he TEACHES dance.
I didn't mind Debbie McGee, for example, because (not to be ungallant) her professional dancing years were some decades behind her.
And Nigel has been in the non-dancing role of Sky in Guys and Dolls and danced on his knees in the Shrek musical.
This week I quite liked Layton, but I do object to his dances all having the same energy and essentially looking the same.
Ellie was terrific. It's a bit off of Craig to criticise her for almost breaking into a polka (presumably that's due to the choreography/interpretation decisions) but not criticise Layton for breaking out a musical theatre number with a hint of paso.
Annabel and Johannes touched my heart as always. I did agree her frame sagged a little though.
Bobby really fucked up the lift and I was annoyed that only Craig dared mention it. I'm sick of that dance/lift anyway.
I think with Nigel being out and the skipping of an elimination Bobby dodged a bullet, and Annabel too to a lesser extent.
They totally cornered Billie Piper on her way back from the BBC canteen and
coerced her into doing that rambly, long (super-edited and cut) speech to a runner's phone camera.
And the Fisherman's Friends were the only bunch available at a few hours' notice on a Saturday night and wrote their lyrics in the cab on the way to Elstree.
Mind you, I'd take them any day over the usual terms and conditions shite with whichever also-ran comedian or B-list soap 'star' they've managed to convince.
