A lot of critics on here seem to want it to be a different programme. I'm no PH superfan, but he's not really changed since the first series. If you loathe him that much, maybe try a different programme?
Liam is adorable, and fab on JBO, but was awful when he started on The professionals - very wooden. He's a good amateur baker but nowhere near the depth of knowledge of PH.
And suggestions that they add guest judges doing demos, have a running point score, take previous weeks into account or don't send anyone home in the first week are missing the point. It's a TV show, not the local WI competition. It's heavily edited to create drama. Like sport, there is an element of luck and randomness that makes it quite unpredictable and occasionally harsh.
And of course it's heavily edited to make it look like it's going one way, because if we all knew what was going to happen, it would just be dull. The producers will absolutely love all the people saying Josh was robbed - it creates coverage and makes the show seem like it matters.
I think if the producers were fixing it, Tasha would have been in the final and they wouldn't have ended up with 3 white men. They've had winners like Candice, John Whaite and Nadia who've had a media career afterwards and winners like Rahul, Sophie and Frances Quinn who've disappeared off the radar.
There is an interesting debate between ex contestants Howard, Jane and Dan on one of this season's Bake Down Podcasts as to whether the judging is fixed. They said it's often much more obvious who's done well and badly, but it's edited to make it seem closer. They don't think it's rigged.
