Does anyone actually know if there an issue with copyright costs for music? They choose the same musicals over and over!

Can we not have something different rather than Mary popping , dirty dancing & pretty sure Beauty and the Beast has been used before..

There are some brilliant musicals / musical movies why reuse the same ones?!

I can only assume it's a cost saving exercise?

If strictly is generally ruled by the producers and judges ,why would the professional dancers put up with it ? I genuinely do think it’s fixed ,like the majority of viewers,but how can it be allowed to happen?

I don't really know but on an episode of ITT recently they couldn't play a song I've been trying to think what it was but my minds blank. anyway it was a copyright /broadcast issue , I think they more than likely need to have some broadcasting permission .

I hadn't heard the song Layton & Nikita are doing for the paso, hadn't realised it was a Spanish mash up of Bad Romance

Well, even if Nigel isn't giving us his Curly, we at least get a look at Vito's Beast.

I think on ITT that was in reference to playing the actual song and artist - they can't always get rights for that (or don't want to pay whatever it would cost).

I'd love to know how restricted they are in terms of rights for west end shows.

I would like to see Annabelle, Nigel and Ellie in the final with Ellie to win.

Well, it's not 'fixed' in a strict way, as in fixing the ultimate winner, but yes, it's definitely manipulated so they get the narratives and the bootings-out the production team want.
I guess they put up with it because Strictly is probably quite a good pay cheque, for a good chunk of the year, and excellent for an ex-pro's profile in an industry where your main career is brutally short.

It was a student staple for me I'm tempted to resurrect it, but it'd have to be on nights in alone as my DP can't stand mayonnaise.

Some of the musicals songs sound promising. I do hope they aren't going to put Vito in a Beast costume. The song isn't from a scene with the Beast in, anyway. Maybe he could be a villager or Gaston.

A Mary Poppins chimney sweep Charleston might be hackneyed but is the kind of thing I actually really love!

I think the Annabel song could be very touching again. She and Johannes do seem to bring more emotion than many of the others. I wouldn't mind them getting to the final although I still think Ellie will win.

I predict next weekend will almost certainly be a Layton-Bobby dance off, with Bobby going home - unless one of the others has a catastrophic dance. Don't think a salsa will save Bobby.

At this point I would like a final 3 of Ellie, Annabel and Nigel. But think it will be Ellie, Layton and A.N.Other.

Ellie is nailed on but Annabel is second favourite to win now.

Really don't like Annabel, she shows no personality, also remember my DM and DS bitching about her when she was in Wimbledon! Don't rate Nigel either, always seems a bit wooden and stiff to me.

I genuinely like them all and don’t mind who’s in the final. I think they all deserve their QF place.

I think that the right people have been eliminated in broadly the right order (would’ve switched Angela R and Krishnan …maybe).

I do think that Ellie is a bit better than the others though, and will have earned the trophy unless something goes belly-up for her. I hope she escapes injury/illness and doesn’t mess up, because she is very good and her partnership with Vito is strong.

She has really grown on me so much, I loved her Paso, one of the dances of the series for me and my favourite ever Paso possibly surpassing my two fav contestants Rose and Danny
