Exactly-5 set matches started at 7pm- there's always the risk of a late finish- whatever day you start the tournament.

OMG I just realised that match has only recently finished, brutal! Well done Felix. Looks like Struff also played a marathon opening match, against the excellently-named Rinky Hijikata. Not sure how they recover in time for their next match, at least Felix is young.

Domi and Felix were lucky that the Jabeur match only lasted just over an hour. Who knows what time they might have finished if Ons had been involved in a tight might too.

The schedulers can't rely on the womens matches being short though- but they clearly do, frequently - and it often backfires. Despite Domi's past problems- Felix has had issues too- the match was never going to be a quick one.

I have realised I will miss most of tomorrow morning, as I have to go out, which is bad planning on my part.

Due to snow, my plans for this morning are thwarted. So I am watching the Zverev match.

Not for long, apparently. Since Britih Eurosport are switching to the Raducanu match. I don't bloody want to watch the Raducanu match.

I do want to watch Emma so I’m happy! Not sure how much I’ll be able to watch though as I am working at the same time and have some rather inconvenient deadlines and meetings this morning.

We’ve got a sprinkling of snow here but not too much - it’s very cold though - I should hopefully be able to watch some tennis today. Hopefully no more 5 hour matches unless Gasquet pulls out all the stops against Alcaraz!

Ooh first set to Dan!

I was hoping to find Dan’s match but the discovery+ interface is a bit pants. Managed to find Sascha and Emma. Looks breezy there.

I’m debating whether to do a discovery+ subscription but not sure it’s worth it as I’m working in the mornings when the tennis is on so can’t properly watch it anyway, just have it there in the background. It is annoying being restricted to whatever Eurosport want to show though. I did consider tennis TV before Christmas but it doesn’t include any women’s matches which is disappointing.
