I think the Angelas and Annabel might be in trouble this week.

I reckon even if Angela R does end up in the dance-off, the first three judges will save her as instructed by the BBC to get her to Blackpool and then Shirley will save the other pair just to make it look like it isn’t all a fix.

All week there have been accusations about the show being rigged to get Angela R to Blackpool so the BBC will no doubt push back against that by making Shirley save the other pair to try and win back its reputation.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 12/11/2023 18:08

I still remember the brouhaha when the judges kept saving Peter Andre in the DO.

NoAprilFool · 12/11/2023 18:15

If this comes up on your Facebook feed, don’t read the comments. Tonight’s result is spoilered in it. 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
why do people do that????

I still remember the brouhaha when the judges kept saving Peter Andre in the DO.

It wasn't that they "kept" saving him, it was that Jamelia was in the dance-off four times and (rightly according to the rules) saved each time, and when she came up against Peter Andre in her fifth dance-off they sent her home despite the fact that they'd scored her higher on the night and he'd cocked up his dance-off performance.

Total fix and Andre was unceremoniously sent home the next week.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 12/11/2023 18:23

Thank you - so typical of me to get it wrong!🙈

MeinKraft · 12/11/2023 18:38

Thing is if Angela is kept in until Blackpool then she'll be booted out Blackpool weekend which would be a bit of a downer. Hope they let her go gracefully if she's in the DO tonight.

I don't get Layton and Nikita dancing together when for so much of it they are actually doing the same moves. It just feels unfair. It's more like synchronised dancing

Same-sex couples do tend to do this in Latin a lot.

I do think occasionally it shows Layton up a bit (although the judges don't mention it), because it is such a direct comparison with another man who knows the technique brilliantly and doesn't have to think about it.

Last night, when they did a bit with their arms raised in hold, I wasn't sure you'd actually fit in Layton's. I didn't think it looked like Layton was imagining a woman (or man) in his arms, where for Nikita I could see somebody slotting in and dancing there.

Whispers I could slot in and dance between Nikitas arms Blush

Can anyone say where Danny Mac sits on the ringer scale? Was he at a similar level to Layton? I do find it slightly odd that so many believe he was robbed of the title but yet so many are begrudging Layton even doing the show.

I can't find out more about Danny Mac's experience pre-Strictly than MouseMinge has posted, however, you can see a massive difference between Layton & Danny if you watch their first dances.

Danny is good, but he doesn't move his whole body and looks a bit awkward in some of it. In Layton's first dance you can see that he's a well-trained dancer who expresses using his whole body.

MeinKraft · 12/11/2023 18:46

The singer did a great job with Tattoo last night didn't she? Hard song to sing. I love Loreen.

Given that she's not going to win, or even make the final, her options are to be kicked out despite doing well on a flattering dance or go out on a low after a dodgy attempt at a jive/samba. Neither is ideal, but that's the way the show plays out. I think leaving on a high is a good option.

I agree. They didn't give a no holds barred vocal cord shredder of a performance like Loreen did in the final but it was a very good effort.

Yes actually, I like it but have to say I really really wanted Cha Cha Cha to win!

GrouchyKiwi · 12/11/2023 18:52

Just watched Layton & Nikita again and liked it much more on a second viewing. I missed the a-frame tension moments, though. Arlene's comments on it are interesting (PP shared a screenshot above).

MeinKraft · 12/11/2023 19:01

@covetingthepreciousthings my mum and I both watched Eurovision this year and she was rooting for Cha Cha Cha and I was rooting for Tattoo. She died shortly after so I have a special place in my heart for Cha Cha Cha too Smile

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 12/11/2023 19:04

@WatchOutMissMarpleIsAboutNow
ah, never mind, now you've got Strictly 😄

I guess I should also have said, there's no denying a smidge of natural ability also plays its part.

TucSandwich · 12/11/2023 19:06

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 11/11/2023 21:45

How come Layton can get away with splayed fingers and hunched shoulders but no one else can?

I said the same about the shoulders. Maybe that's why Craig gave him a 9. Brilliant dance though.
