I can’t surely be the only one who loves these films?! On a mission to watch as many as possible this year. They help me escape from reality and I love the cheesiness !

Hey all,

My favourite absolute cheese-fest (but very witty!) is THE KNIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS. It came out on Netflix a few years ago and it still available.

@Worrysaboutalot I ALSO have a spreadsheet (I have tabs for TV, film etc and a specific tab for Christmas) and this one stormed right to the top, only beaten by Home Alone and Elf really.

Knight before Christmas. Was this the one where a mediaeval knight came through a portal in time? That was a lovely film.

I want my own chivalrous knight please 😁

Absolutely love these. Around this time of year DD and I start making a viewing list. Need to get cracking on this year's list, so will look through thread for recommendations.

Some favourites include:
Princess Switch (1,2 and 3)
Love Hard
Falling For Christmas
Noel Diary

Friends worked on Christmas in the Cotswolds so looking forwards to that too.

A Royal Christmas Ball on this morning. Contains some great “ this is how English people talk” moments:

”strike a light, ref, open your eyes!”

‘A glenbrooke Christmas “ I enjoyed this one!

Haven't watched any Christmas films yet apart from Click and Collect last night. Just seen a trailer for a Hallmark type film on Netflix and thought "oh, I'll give that a whirl" Turned out it was actually two different trailers for two different films. One where the female lead was an interior designer (to the male lead) and one where she was a caterer to the male lead. Both male leads looked like the same guy (must admit, I wasn't wearing my glasses!)

There's something very reassuring and comforting about the copy and paste storylines Xmas Grin

RainbowZebraWarrior · 01/12/2023 17:24

Should have said, the film names were:

Christmas Miracle for Daisy
and
Catering Christmas

RainbowZebraWarrior · 03/12/2023 13:21

I'm watching B&B Merry on Netflix at the moment. I'm at the part where they decorate cookies / gingerbread. The male lead is rather pleasing on the eye, but I'm transfixed by his one perma-raised eyebrow!

Snowy Sundays were just made for this!

Christmas Shepherd is lovely! Also, March Sisters at Christmas - a modern day Christmas version of Little Women, and yeah Christmas Visitor... SO sad and touching and beautiful.

Also, these (titles and the name of one actor/actress in it.)

Christmas Shoes - Rob Lowe.
Home By Christmas - Linda Hamilton.
Christmas at Rosemont - Lochlyn Munroe.
Married By Christmas - Jess Macallan
Christmas Melody - Mariah Carey, Lacey Chabert

Also, try New In Town with Renee Zellwegger. Only partly set at Christmas, but VERY Christmassy, and it's set in Minnesota, and is very snowy! ❄

I Agree Christmas Shoes is great.
Also love Switched for Christmas - Candace Cameron Bure
Journey back to Christmas - Candace Cameron Bure
A Family for Christmas - Lacey Chabert
Both Mrs Miracle films are great too!

I'm doing my annual wrapping marathon and blubbing at Christmas shoes right now . I didn't know there was a sequel and a 3rd one though, so i'm going to watch them next!

Apparently there's five films altogether, all based on a series of books, I've seen Christmas Blessing but not Christmas Hope.

ChishiyaBat · 03/12/2023 17:21

@alldaysleeper 5! Bloody hell, that'll keep me entertained all night at least, that's if I can find them. I just started A Cheistmas Blessing.

Sandytoxic · 04/12/2023 10:25

Blimey this mornings 10 am offering is a bit dark! We’ve already had a grieving husband and some DV thrown in. Anxiously awaiting the making of some cookies and hot chocolate drinking!

“Snowed in” really enjoyed this one although the girls in it reminded me of two little girls that I have lost touch with so did make me feel a bit sad

Not a schmaltzy hallmark one, but watching Your Christmas or Mine 2 on Amazon. Quite funny, big cast, might have to hunt down the first one.

IceAndLemonPlease · 14/12/2023 17:03

“A Christmas present”. Not my favourite . Lead couple were annoying and found it irritating to watch after a while

Just watched a royal winter on all4. Had my box set to record but it didnt. Gutted as a fave of mine. May have to buy it on prime.

Schmaltzy but the prince is endearing rather than annoying and Samantha Bond as the queen.

Mumguilt19 · 14/12/2023 17:31

It's not hallmark but Netflix have the Christmas Prince with 2 and 3 on it as well. Wasn't sure what to expect but I found it really endearing and ended up loving all 3 movies.

ilovesushi · 15/12/2023 10:22

Watched "Snowed in for Christmas" the other night. Really lovely and the actors were great. I think someone upthread said the couple have good chemistry and they really do. Plus the child actors were good too and not overly cute. As usual I loved counting and admiring how many elegant coats, boots and bags the heroine had. Also lots of great and varied hair styling going on in this one. And some nice knitwear. Am now trying to hunt down a cream roll neck with asymetric buttons. No success yet. Very very predictable storyline but that is part of the joy.

Not a Hallmark style movie, but a fantastic Christmassy watch was "Family Switch" with Jennifer Garner.

@alldaysleeper @SweetBirdsong where do I find Christmas Shoes?? Love love love Rob Lowe.

@ilovesushi We recorded it on Christmas 24 a few years ago but I'm pretty sure Christmas Shoes is on YouTube.
Just having our annual blub while watching A Christmas Visitor.
Not Hallmark but every year we watch The Preachers Wife. DH always gets something in his eye when the children sing in the nativity
For anyone interested "A Christmas Visitor" is currently on Amazon Prime
