I can’t surely be the only one who loves these films?! On a mission to watch as many as possible this year. They help me escape from reality and I love the cheesiness !

I love them too lol I liked the Christmas prince on Netflix. I think channel 5 might have a good load of them. Perfect for my sofa bound cluster feeding sessions!

IceAndLemonPlease · 11/11/2023 09:02

Loads on channel 5! I think we should review them all on here 😀

I started early 😁 as soon as great tv romance turned to great Christmas.
My one pet peeve, though, is- a heroine goes away somewhere, with one tiny hand luggage and yet she’s got two, even three changes of a coat/jacket, with many a hat and gloves changes too. How? Did she have more luggage coming later by post?
😁

Worrysaboutalot · 11/11/2023 09:34

Not only do I love Christmas films. I have a spreadsheet which I update every year with ratings so I only re-watch good films and not the rubbish ones!

hanka · 11/11/2023 13:06

Oooh I do love a good spreadsheet. 👍
Any chance “Trading Christmas” is on yours? I thought it was a little bit better than most.

IceAndLemonPlease · 12/11/2023 10:24

I liked ‘ A gingerbread Christmas ‘ . Watched it last year and will watch again. !

Love a Hallmark Christmas film too! In fact love Hallmark films all year round for a nice bit of escapism. Lots of classic older ones we always watch such as Christmas Visitor, Christmas Shepherd and Christmas in Evergreen but some good new ones. Formulaic yes but great as a break from everything. Love a bit of Andrew Walker!

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/11/2023 16:14

Love them. Always cheesy and you know the woman gets her man but ......

KellyMarieTunstall2 · 12/11/2023 20:10

I love these films, such escapism and reminds me of cluster feeding on the sofa, as my last 2 babies were born in November 😊

FuzzyPuffling · 12/11/2023 21:14

I love these. So formulaic and dreadful...but I love them!

IceAndLemonPlease · 16/11/2023 21:50

Just watched ‘ Christmas bells are ringing’. Really enjoyed it. One of my new hallmark favourites!

Channel 52 is my go to! I cheer every time there is a countdown calendar, the best ever hot chocolate, or a jazz version of joy to the world. Tissues at the ready for when the couple gaze into each others eyes and give an emotionally laden whisper “ merry Christmas”.

Christmas Shepherd is lovely! Also, March Sisters at Christmas - a modern day Christmas version of Little Women, and yeah Christmas Visitor... SO sad and touching and beautiful.

Also, these (titles and the name of one actor/actress in it.)

Christmas Shoes - Rob Lowe.
Home By Christmas - Linda Hamilton.
Christmas at Rosemont - Lochlyn Munroe.
Married By Christmas - Jess Macallan
Christmas Melody - Mariah Carey, Lacey Chabert

Also, try New In Town with Renee Zellwegger. Only partly set at Christmas, but VERY Christmassy, and it's set in Minnesota, and is very snowy! ❄

“Reunited at Christmas” was last nights watch. Cheesy and I enjoyed it!

Finished “Christmas on honeysuckle lane” (channel 5) this evening and really enjoyed it. Hot chocolate and cookies were mentioned about ten minutes in !!

I'm just about to tuck into "A Cotswold Christmas". Don't think it's HM but should be fun and full of cliches.

Sandytoxic · 20/11/2023 10:51

From the radio times:

christmas in the Cotswolds
romance starring Kimberley Nixon. An American wedding planner is out of her depth planning her half-sister’s wedding in rural England.

2023 movie, shown at 4.20 on channel 5 on Sunday 19 November.

mogtheexcellent · 20/11/2023 10:59

Also on ch on Saturday was a good one with Teri Hatcher as a divorced woman who cant get a room at a ski lodge so ends up working as a chalet girl. Very enjoyable. Ch 5 now have a page of xmas films here

My favourite is A Gift Wrapped Christmas on ITVX here There are also loads of films on ITVx but they are mixed in with the other films.

“The search for secret santa”. This was just ok. Lacked hot chocolate, cookies and Christmas trees!

My favourite Christmas Perfection in on now! Literally just turned in randomly and there is was. It’s a less well known one so I’m taking it as a sign.
It’s a time loop one.

One review will do. They are all the same. 🤣🤣🤣

(I love them too BTW - I even have a special Hallmark Christmas movie watching mug 😳 - the formula just makes me laugh.

P. S. There are podcasts dedicated to Hallmark Christmas movies and I've learned so much from tuning into them.

Sparkletastic · 21/11/2023 18:50

Nameless Best Friends is the best podcast about Hallmark Shitmas movies
