I can’t surely be the only one who loves these films?! On a mission to watch as many as possible this year. They help me escape from reality and I love the cheesiness !

I have been watching Great Christmas Movies, Channel 319 and 320 on my sky box.

I love a soppy Christmas movie. My husband says it's too soon to watch them, but I say I am too busy nearer the time to sit down and enjoy them properly, so this is my guilty pleasure.

Agree about the one piece of luggage that mysteriously contains an outfit for every occasion. Also the two plastic boxes that appear out of the attic that mysteriously contain enough decorations for a neighbourhood.

But, who cares 😂

Christmas on honeysuckle lane. I adore this film!!

coxesorangepippin · 21/11/2023 23:15

Oh yeah I love them

Princess switch 💖💖😍

If you like a baby elephant, then Holiday in the Wild is worth a watch. I think it's still on Netflix.

Loubelle70 · 21/11/2023 23:18

I cant carry on watching an xmas film that doesnt have snow, loads lights, etc..theres some really unchristmassy films...and no sun lol xxx

You won't like Holiday in the Wild, I don't think even the baby elephants would redeem it for you. But it's still a very heartwarming, festive film.

Not a Hallmark movie, but I really enjoyed Love Hard on Netflix

My DH loves these Christmas films, he’s a 6’3” ’take no shit North Sea Tiger’ (a nick name for anyone who works on oil and gas rigs in the North Sea oil fields ) he is now retired after many years offshore and searches the listings every day for them. Usually downloads onto Sky planner to to watch later. Yesterdays choice was Christmas at Mistletoe Farm., he makes us both s hot chocolate with s slug of Baileys (or just the Baileys) and he sits there with a soppy smile on his face all through.
He loves, any romantic film or series really. I’ve renamed him a North Sea Pussy cat.
I love the cheesiness of them, the inappropriate clothing, 4” heels in snowdrifts. The female usually pulls out a glamorous evening dress with accessories from her little suitcase or the corner store has everything she needs or the male love interest has sister who is just her size.

Michellebops · 22/11/2023 09:22

Love love love them, and love rewatching over and over.

Christmas in July is the start of it on our Virgin tv 🎅🏻

Sandytoxic · 22/11/2023 19:42

All the reviews in Radio Times get 2 stars. They also have generic summaries like “ predictable romance”, “ easy going fantasy” “ undemanding romcom” or “sweet festive story”. I’m impressed that NorthSeaPussycat is able to use these to make a choice! ( other tv listings may be more detailed……)

It’s just easy viewing, they are predicable and formulaic and sometimes the days choice get binned after half an hour if the cheesiness is too much.

Love that! Happy Hallmark Christmas to you and your husband!!!!

Sounds like you need the Hallmark mugs too 🤣🎅

“Christmas at candy lane”. Bit silly but very festive!

Dh has requested Love Actually for tonight’s viewing-result!

Hey all,

My favourite absolute cheese-fest (but very witty!) is THE KNIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS. It came out on Netflix a few years ago and it still available.

@Worrysaboutalot I ALSO have a spreadsheet (I have tabs for TV, film etc and a specific tab for Christmas) and this one stormed right to the top, only beaten by Home Alone and Elf really.

mogtheexcellent · 25/11/2023 16:49

There are more people with spreadsheets??!!! I thought i was only one. We need a secret handshake or something WinkHavent updated mine this year yet as dealing with health and camily issues. Currently have a batch of post it notes in my kitchen bowl of doom though.

I agree with pp that the films absolutely have to have snow. The exception is a cinderella christmas.

Do not under any circumstances watch Santas Summer House. Its terrible.

LookMaggie · 25/11/2023 17:05

@mogtheexcellent OMG another spreadsheeter?! Yes, mine has tabs for books, stand up comedy, theatre and concerts as well! Hope your situation improves!

flexigirl · 25/11/2023 17:42

I love this thread , been watching them for a few weeks already and husband was complaining when I started putting them on ( then watches them all through with commentary 😝 ) well today I'm watching the following ( excellent but very murderous series ) and he REQUESTED a Christmas film . Job done ladies 😂😂

TheChosenTwo · 25/11/2023 17:58

I thought this thread would be about how awful they are and wondering who watches them (I thought until now that the answer to that is my mum and my mum alone 😂) - I’m shocked!
You people are not my people 😂

gravitytester · 25/11/2023 18:34

Love 'em. I Ben though they literally have the same plot/character flaws/dramatics. I will still watch every. Single. One.

ChishiyaBat · 26/11/2023 19:51

Is Christmas Shoes a hallmark film? I love that one, it's years old though. Makes me cry like a baby, even more so since my Nan died around Christmas.

Sandytoxic · 26/11/2023 20:09

Scrooged on the main channels tonight.

NeelyOHara1 · 26/11/2023 20:32

FYI, Freeview Channel 65, 'That's Christmas' has more, lol.

Flyawaybirdfly · 27/11/2023 16:54

Loving CH5 at moment. Love a film afternoon
