Is there a thread for this? Can't see one.

This was just so awful, as others have said does this happen that mothers are removed without systems in place to safeguard the kids, how on earth is she supposed to arrange school pick up from prison? I wonder how much is true to life?

Do those fiddling the leccy even with 'aggravating factors' whatever that means really get locked up with such violent disturbed people?

The other woman was crazy for examining the woman's lump. It was obvious she was about to be attacked, surely she'd have told her to see the medical staff.

Still compelling viewing even if harrowing.

I've just watched all 3 episodes, thought it was really good but heartbreaking as well.

All three women have been screwed over by men and the system 😢

JellyBeanFactory · 03/11/2023 23:16

Just watched it all. Not cried in front of telly for a long time! I can only imagine the heartache of many women in our prisons.

Fab writing, excellent acting.

JaneKatSuttonGoals · 04/11/2023 23:14

Just finished episode 3 - thought it was excellent, but tragic & heartbreaking and made me cry but happy tears towards the end & really different to the Stephen Graham/Sean Bean one.
Fab series!

Soloparenthelp · 04/11/2023 23:58

i watched it too. I thought it was a great series and acting really helped make it fab. I did feel like it could have done with one more episode, it was a bit rushed to conclude for me.

I agree, I'd love to see if Kelsey and Orla manage to make it work on the outside.

It's insane really if you think of the cost to the country of imprisonment for these women who aren't a threat to anyone. Orla especially, the cost of prison, kids in foster care, the social services etc. That money could have been used to help keep her head above water so she wasn't having to fiddle the electric in the first place! Would have saved the emotional trauma to both Orla and her kids as well which is likely to have long lasting repercussions.

Cheeesus · 05/11/2023 10:43

Is it any less tense than series one? I couldn’t finish it as I found the feeling of waiting for something awful to happen too much.

JaneKatSuttonGoals · 05/11/2023 13:40

Yes much less edge of the seat than series 1, but no less compelling for it.

Janiie · 06/11/2023 16:34

I must be incredibly naive but I really thought someone leaving prison wouldn't have to find £600 for rent, surely they'd be a priority for social services to find them accommodation so the dc could be returned to her.

If there really no support once released?

Jellykat · 12/11/2023 21:39

A tent!! (watching real time here)

crumblingschools · 12/11/2023 21:41

Does that really happen?

Jellykat · 12/11/2023 21:43

Just googled, its true they do!!! Shock

Forestdweller11 · 12/11/2023 21:49

These the same tents that Suella wants to get rid of for the homeless - it being a lifestyle choice and everything?

Jellykat · 12/11/2023 21:51

My thoughts exactly! Hmm

Forestdweller11 · 12/11/2023 21:55

Abi's story is heartbreaking.

In our Local Authority social care don't find accommodation, you go onto the housing register.

Jellykat · 12/11/2023 21:59

Onto a very very long housing register list i presume? and in the meantime...

Yes, very long and a system in crisis.

Jellykat · 12/11/2023 22:12

Aw i hope Orla found somewhere for her and the kids to live (i know its not real btw).. and good shout ending on an optimistic note for Kelsey!

crumblingschools · 12/11/2023 22:13

Would they disregard her children whilst they are in foster care when putting her on the housing list?

Jellykat · 12/11/2023 22:38

Dont know crumbling..

Janiie · 13/11/2023 08:55

Just brilliant acting, powerful and moving scenes.

I just cannot believe a tent is ever an option. Why isnt there an outcry about this. Surely a b&b, a hotel anything would be offered particularly as the priority should be reuniting her with her dc.

TryAgainWithFeeling · 18/11/2023 02:27

Just finished this tonight. Absolutely devastating. The whole damn system is so broken.

kneehightoacat · 22/11/2023 15:08

I think it's safe to say that rehabilitation of offenders is not a priority to our Government
