After loving 5 Bedrooms, Colin From Accounts, Wanted, the Newsreader, Bump and The Heart Guy I’m looking for more Aussie stuff

I also loved Frayed and was watching 800 words, but can’t find it now

We tried Back to the Rafters, but couldn’t really get into it. It’s a continuation of something else, and I think probably better if you’ve seen that!

Any recommendations very gratefully received. We have Prime, Netflix, Disney and BritBox, also a free months Apple TV. I don’t mind paying for Acorn if there’s a few things

TV series’s preferred but I love rubbishy Christmas type films too

Thank you!

@Optimist1 thanks, I'll see if I can find Crownies on that too.🙂

The Moodys, a comedy series, it's got the guy from Colin from Accounts in it - Patrick Brammall - it's funny 👍🏼

Fisk, five rooms

Violetmarmalade · 29/10/2023 01:11

Rosehaven - brilliant and funny actors, not sure where it’s on though. Set in Tasmania

BareBelliedSneetch · 29/10/2023 01:12

Australian Survivor. On prime.

JoyousAsOtters · 30/10/2023 22:09

Seachange (an oldie but a real goodie)
also second Love My Way, Secret Life of Us, Offspring

theres a new(ish) Claudia Karvan show called Bump

theres loads of good movies too that never make it to big distribution in the UK

Goodbyeimgoinghome · 20/11/2023 08:25

Definitely Fisk, love Kitty Flanagan. Utopia is funny too.

Don't think anyone has mentioned Rake. One of my very favourite programmes. Richard Roxburgh is a defence lawyer with self destructive tendencies tackling cases in Sydney. Very funny at times. 5 seasons but not sure if its available at the moment.

The Strange Calls - not recent. Funny non-serious police six-parter
Glitch
Laid

I’ll second Mystery Road series 1, and Mystery Road Origins.

I’ll also second The Letdown - funny and felt very real.

Tangle - it’s a bit older but very good, imo.

Jack Irish series: if no one mentioned it already. A Detective tv series with Guy Pearce as the lead, and a greatv supporting cast.

The Dressmaker - Not a tv series and everyone has probably seen it, but I watched it again v recently and loved it again - Kate Winslett and Judy Davis as the leads.

I’ll add in Troppo. It wasn’t great tv but worth watching imo.

StillWantingADog · 24/11/2023 08:12

Can’t remember the name but I think it’s still on iplayer- the one with Jenna Coleman and the missing baby.

ALittleTeawithmilk · 24/11/2023 08:41

Oh, the documentary series. - ‘Last stop Lagartha’

Cricketbelle · 24/11/2023 14:18

Offspring isn’t on Netflix anymore sadly.
so good although the first couple of episodes looked a bit dated and ropey. I loved it!

I agree with pp The Letdown is good, only two series tho.

RedRiverShore4 · 24/11/2023 19:09
