Anyone watching it? First episode interesting and well-acted, based on true story apparently.

And doubt that anyone was that well dressed.

My mother was of that generation from Jamaica. You best believe they were that well dressed! Maybe not every single one of them, but in the main yes.

The trailers for it every five mins on itv really get on my nerves. The Emile sande singing especially and the rough ex hairdresser from Corrie saying 'you belong here as much as we do' in her gruff voice!

I think that is in response to something I wrote. I wasn't implying they were not likely to be "well dressed" but at that time the quality of material available was different. And clothes worn for longer.

But totally believe that for special occassions everyone would put on their best, and of course wear a hat and gloves. And for women wear more petitcoats to puff out the skirt (which were impractical when working.)

But in fact having now caught up with the series, I suppose many of the early scenes were "special occassions" and so more likely to be best.

Its funny when I was growing up I thought the styles of 1950s very old fashioned and fuddy duddy. Now I think they look quite attractive!

Well, it's over! Looks like they are hoping for another series with that ending.
