Coleen Rooney - The real Wagatha Christie Story on Disney+

Anyone else watched it yet?

I Watched this all yesterday (admittedly whilst doing some other domestic stuff so basically listened to it 😂) but found it to be really quite compelling. Thought Coleen Rooney came across really well (was never a fan tbh) but she was open and balanced about everything that had happened to the point of being quite gracious.

Rebekah Vardy on the other hand… after listening to the lawyers discuss the tactics deployed by her team and the journalists involved , just wow. And the denying of being the leak even when faced with undeniable proof was just both breathtakingly stupid and delusional in equal measures. I cannot understand why Jamie Vardy didn’t stop the whole thing in the face of the lawyers first opinion and after disclosure? £3m his wife wasted and as Coleen states she hasn’t been paid her awarded legal costs of £1.8m it does appear that maybe it was money that they didn’t have to lose. Possibly the greatest own goal of all time.

I really liked CR's parents - they came across so well as well. Lovely that they have close relationships with their grandchild. Just seem very normal!

Umanresources · 21/10/2023 21:41

Really enjoyed this. I thought Coleen and her family came across so well, such a loving family. I loved how organised she was with the boys’ clothes hung up and labelled. She was incredibly organised with the messages as well. It made me laugh when Wayne wanted to take up law work and the little one looking in the mirror saying that his nose had grown 🤣 I wish them well for the future.

Gloriously · 22/10/2023 07:40

She has grown more beautiful with age. Thought she was stunning. Very bright compassionate woman grown from a wonderful family.

Deserves so much more than the meathead Rooney.

Femalefootyfan · 22/10/2023 08:22

I didn’t expect to like her but having watched this, I thought she came across as a really nice, genuine person, not up herself at all. She lives a very normal life in terms of kids, school, family & friends, albeit with millions in the bank and a massive house but she doesn’t really appear to chase fame, unlike Rebekah Vardy, who comes across as sly, vacuous and fame hungry.

Justleaveitblankthen · 22/10/2023 15:48

I wish this was on Netflix, It's the only one of the big channels I have 😔
Enjoyed her interview on Woman's hour this week.

Love that she did this all on her own, without telling a soul 😂

I have immense sympathy for CR, she behaved with grace and dignity throughout. RV should be ashamed of herself.

I have heard rumours that RV has officially trademarked the term "wagatha christie". According to Popbitch - "trademark applications require "bona fide intention to use". It's against the rules to apply for a trademark just to sit on it and stop anyone else from using it. The filing shows RV now holds the Wagatha trademark in relation to alcoholic energy drinks (Class 33), household sanitisers (Class 5), tanning oils (Class 3) and electrically heated mugs (Class 11).

And for Class 8 products (household shears; household knives; household scissors) and Class 7 products (electric mincers)."

Hopefully someone will be able to persuade RV to just stop. But possibly not, given her disregard for facts and sense thus far.

Gloriously · 22/10/2023 17:48

RV compulsion to keep driving through with the court case despite it being an open and shut case shows the extent of her delusional and grandiose narcissistic traits.

Did anyone see her doc about her upbringing within the Jehovah Witness community ..... part of her rehabilitation PR campaign post the trail ..... setting herself up as a humble victim.

thebellagio · 22/10/2023 17:53

I thoroughly enjoyed that doc. The whole shambles of RV defence was absolutely hilarious, she absolutely deleted evidence to hide it.

CR came across as a lovely lady, and she absolutely didn’t deserve to have someone leaking stories about her. Interesting that Piers Morgan was so pro-Vardy….

Piers is just a horrible man.

I remember RV on Loose Women when this all first happened - I think tv executives need to take a long look at themselves too. Was it right to be giving all that sympathetic publicity to RV? Her history with the tabloids (the kiss and tell on Peter Andre) was well known about. And still they allowed her a platform to paint herself as an innocent victim, without actually knowing the truth.
The only sympathy I had for RV was for the awful threats on SM towards her and her children - that was disgusting and the police ought to track and prosecute people who behave like that.

Gloriously · 22/10/2023 18:03

@LadyBird1973 RV gave them exactly what they wanted snivelling snotty tabloid TV ... pure entertainment to draw in the viewers they have zero interest or remit for justice or dignity

RedSuedePump · 23/10/2023 07:21

have watched the first two episodes - Coleen and her family come across so well and i did cry when they were talking with such love about Rosie. i think it was an absolute genius plan and frankly (aside from the unpleasant trolling) have no sympathy for RV

thebellagio · 23/10/2023 10:28

I've always said that I thought RV was giving stories to The Sun in exchange for positive press coverage, therefore in her mind, she wasn't "selling" stories because there was no financial transaction

I always found it hilarious that The Sun had their Secret WAG column, and about a month after Coleen outed RV, that column was cancelled. Hmm....I wonder who that could have been????

martinisforeveryone · 23/10/2023 13:06

RV no doubt did swap secret stories in return for positive press, but there's also evidence she wanted payment for some 'scoops'

How absolutely blatant was the unavailability of the lap top and phone tech? really must think people are stupid. I was so pleased the evidence with sections redacted didn't come off. Good. Those conversations really showed her and her PR agent up for what they are.

The vicious trolling Rebekah experienced is absolutely indefensible, no question about that. I bet she wishes she hadn't put herself in that position now. However, saying the Judge was wrong and then going on to trademark some Wagatha brands, whether they ever see the light of day or not, she's just bringing more attention to the case and if anything was proven, it's what a deeply unpleasant person she is.

If Jamie Vardy had been a driver for a living, or say a plumber or accountant etc. I don't think she'd have given him the time of day. On the other hand, for Coleen, although she enjoys the finer things in life and then some, I can well imagine her being just the same kind of person if she and Wayne lived in a terraced house in Liverpool city centre. She came across as fiercely loyal, grounded, sensible and organised, regardless of money and status.

The Rooneys have found incredible fortune in life, but had a lot of the same troubles as most people encounter one way or another and have worked to find the solutions. Essentially they seem the same kind of grounded people that they would have been if they'd had very different careers.

Wendysfriend · 24/10/2023 03:59

I just stayed up and watched the whole lot, only planned to watch one episode 🙈 it was so good. I didn't follow the court case, thought it was something silly at the time but didn't realise how badly affected Colleen was over this. They've been through so much, I've scrolled past news articles about her before, although most were probably untrue, but what a lovely woman, she has wealth but she's very grounded. Lovely family, lovely kids and amazing parents. Those other 2, no word to describe what they did !!

Georgieporgie29 · 24/10/2023 09:51

I really enjoyed this. CR came across so well and appears to be really lovely. It just shows what it is really like when you’re watching the court case and thinking Colleen looks confident when actually behind the scenes it was affecting her so badly.

RV is just horrible and her PA was nasty, they gave me real mean girl vibes. At the time I thought RV was throwing her PA under the bus but actually it looks like they’re both cut from the same cloth.

And the Rooneys house 🥰

I completely agree with you @martinisforeveryone I think she does genuinely love Wayne for who he is, not who he "became". And I think she would be just as happy if they were living in a council house with him in another life.

I think she came across as a really lovely girl.

Watching it now, is there a count of how many times CR says "my private instagram account" ?

I think she had to do that as she has 2 accounts, one for the public and one family and friends. People already online saying " well if you put it on Instagram what do you expect". So even by her saying it was her private account they still don't get that it was her private account

ah ok - yeah I guess you're right

OneFrenchEgg · 24/10/2023 20:39

Absolutely loving it. She's so crafty, this is doing wonders for her image i expect. Kind, cheerful, happy - what's not to like.

LunaNorth · 24/10/2023 21:22

It speaks well of her that she’s stayed close to all her old friends and her wider family. Wayne is absolutely punching above his weight there, and I hope he’s stopped drinking now.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 24/10/2023 22:05

Also loved this and wish CR was my bestie!

One of my highlights was the ring binder she prepared for her court appearance ... channeling her inner Lesley Knope Grin

She looks so tiny in that huge house!

Nickinoo22 · 24/10/2023 22:11

I was really looking forward to watching this but I don't have Disney unfortunately 😕 one of the cut backs.

diddl · 25/10/2023 08:40

I thought that it was really interesting.

When CR tried to settle-wonder how much RV wanted?

The only time I thought that RV's defence sort of had a point was when they were asking if everyone on her Insta really was a friend.

I think that maybe showed that she was too trusting though/didn't think that she was interesting enough for someone to sell stories about?

Were her & RV ever friends or was it more that their husband's knew each other?

I did wonder why CR had accepted RV on Insta?

That said-the messages between RV & her assistant.
When RV was initially unfollowed.

Something like "what a cunt she's so up herself"

What an overreaction!

I guess if she was relying on stories for her own gain though that would explain it!

Wonder how much RV needs to pay up!
