Carrie and David on Cbeebies- anyone else find them 'disturbing'?

Very Odd.

They are doing a 'latino' based number at the moment ( with dancing)- last week they were doing some thugged out gansta rap shit.

Whats the deal with this- I find it very strange.

(DS loves it though)

I just find it incredibly irritating. Trying much too hard imo.

S1ur · 08/03/2008 16:08

yup.

Carmenere · 08/03/2008 16:08

I think that they are great. Lets face it all children's tv presenters look odd but we are used to seeing these two in different circs. They are brilliant at getting over te way that music can be fun to little ones. DD loves them and she isn't even that musical.

Pollyanna · 08/03/2008 16:15

I must say I can't particularly see the appeal of this programme, but all of my 4 (aged from 3-9) love it! dd3 has been singing the song all day.

Rosylily · 08/03/2008 16:29

my 5 year old and 3 year old love it. They sing along. So i like them because they are my new babysitters

Botbot · 08/03/2008 21:40

I think Carrie looks incredibly uncomfortable. Mind you, I don't really watch all those other programmes she's on, so maybe she always looks like that. Or maybe it's those ridiculous heels she prances about in.

That rap bit made me cringe.

bran · 08/03/2008 21:42

I was watching it the other day and wondering whether Carrie wears a back support or some type of corset. She doesn't seem to bend at the waist at all, which makes her dancing a little strange.

I'm not keen on it at all, but ds has seen it twice and has been singing the theme tune ever since.

Sunshinemummy · 08/03/2008 21:43

My DS also loves it but I really don't. Even the dog thing annoys me.

SheherazadetheGoat · 08/03/2008 21:43

i find all children's programs disturbing but i assume that is because i am not in the demographic!

NorthernLurker · 08/03/2008 21:44

my dd absolutely loves it! She is making her own 'pop shop' out of an egg box....

PotPourri · 08/03/2008 21:44

Oh I saw this for the first time this morning. Don't usually let DDs watch TV much, but I was shattered today so did. And yes, I think they are scary. I was amazed at how plain Carrie's voice is - i.e. I sound as nice. I always thought she was supposed to be a great singer - what with them being on all those awful talent shoes as singing coaches.

And I think the approach is a bit advanced for the tiny tots they are aiming at - i.e. creating songs that you sing in a round etc. My DD (age 3) loves songs, makes them up all the time, and they even rhyme - but this was over her head this morning.

BUT, they are no worse than that weird Justin or Sarah Jane...

NorthernLurker · 08/03/2008 21:45

Sarah Jane really can't sing!

tortoiseSHELL · 08/03/2008 21:45

I like them!

Lizzzombie · 08/03/2008 21:47

Carrie wears the same outfit in every episode. I can't work out why they would do that apart from if they filmed it all on one day.
I think she must have lots and lots of pink fitted shirts.
Its weird.

FAQ · 08/03/2008 21:47

being able to sing really well doesn't make you a good singing coach - just like being fantastic at Maths doesn't make you a good maths teacher

booge · 08/03/2008 21:49

Quite freaky.

PotPourri · 08/03/2008 21:50

Good point FAQ - but I did expect her to have more body to her voice. It's all a bit thin and with an accent (which she doesn't really have when talking!). And I would not present a TV programme that revolves around me singing if I did not have a great voice TBH - no matter how good a coach I am.

angiebaby78 · 08/03/2008 21:51

I am sitting here singing carrie and davids popshop la la la !!! I just cant stand all of the stage school kids they have on these programmes. If they want good singing listen to the harmonies on the tweenies. Now thats musical !!

milge · 08/03/2008 21:52

HOW does she dance in those heels? No wonder she doesn't bend in the middle, she would never move again if she fell over!
DS entranced by it. Age 5

angiebaby78 · 08/03/2008 21:57

mind you kids ds (12) dd1 (9) and dd2(2) love it !!
